DC is bringing back Bane as the main villain in their new animated movie, *Batman: Knightfall Part 1: Knightfall*. This film kicks off a four-part series based on the famous ‘Knightfall’ comic book story. Expected in 2026, the project will be a separate animated story, outside of the main DC Universe continuity.
Bane confirmed as the villain for Batman: Knightfall Part 1: Knightfall
DC has just announced more details about its upcoming animated movie, *Batman: Knightfall Part 1: Knightfall*, and confirmed that Bane will be the main villain. This first part of a four-part animated series based on the famous *Knightfall* comic book is scheduled to come out in 2026 (according to Screen Rant).
The new movie features Batman confronting one of his toughest challenges ever. The story begins with Bane releasing all of Batman’s enemies from Arkham Asylum, pushing the hero to his absolute limits, both mentally and physically.
Jeff Wamester, who previously directed episodes of Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths and other DC animated projects, is directing the new film. While DC hasn’t announced who will be voicing the characters yet, the story hints that several famous villains from Gotham City will appear as they become involved in a dangerous scheme led by Bane.
The Knightfall story is a legendary part of Batman’s history, famous for showing Batman being defeated by Bane. It also tells the story of Bruce Wayne rebuilding his life and the brief time Azrael acted as Gotham’s hero. Though Christopher Nolan’s *The Dark Knight Rises* (2012) took some inspiration from Knightfall, this will be the first time the original comic book story is directly adapted.
This movie kicks off a fresh Batman storyline, separate from the main DC Universe being created by James Gunn. It’s coming after the release of ‘Aztec Batman: Clash of Empires’ in 2025.
