Bandai Namco recently revealed a new role-playing game during a special video presentation, finally lifting the curtain on the previously mysterious project.
The publisher revealed the announcement date as March 3rd, and will share more details in a presentation on March 5th at 3pm Pacific Time, 6pm Eastern Time, or 11pm GMT. Bandai Namco also released a brief teaser offering a first look at the game’s setting.
A short, 20-second video depicts a calm, fantastical scene. We see a character walking through a grassy field with a sword and shield. A tall tower stands in the background, and the accompanying text hints at upcoming conflict: “A serenity soon to be disturbed.”
Bandai Namco hasn’t shared many details about their new project – we don’t yet know the name, what systems it will be on, or when it might come out. Despite this, fans are already buzzing with guesses about what kind of RPG it could be.
Fans convinced new SAO or Tales game in the works
Fans have speculated that the recent teaser might be connected to Sword Art Online, noting the resemblance between the tower in the video and a prominent structure from the show.
Okay, I might be losing it, but that tower thing at the beginning totally reminded me of the towers from Aincrad in Sword Art Online! Seriously, is this finally going to be the amazing SAO RPG we’ve all been waiting for?
A serenity soon to be disturbed.
More to come March 5, 15:00 PDT / March 6, 00:00 CET.

Some fans believe this announcement could signal the comeback of the popular Tales series, which hasn’t had a new main game since Tales of Arise released in 2021.
One fan believes the next Tales Of game is likely in early development, pointing to the basic textures on the character model and the distinctly anime-style shield. Bandai Namco Studios has announced they’re creating a new game engine, and this game could be the first to use it.
Bandai Namco is currently being secretive about the project, but fans will find out more on March 5th.
