Mark Wahlberg stars in a new, over-the-top action comedy now streaming. Directed by the filmmaker behind Green Book, the R-rated movie centers on two Americans who find themselves on the run from an entire nation after a mishap at a big sporting event.
I just saw the trailer for this new movie, Balls Up, and it looks hilarious! It’s about two marketers – played by Mark Wahlberg and Paul Walter Hauser – who somehow land the job of promoting a condom brand at the World Cup in Brazil. They actually do get the deal done and make it to the games! But things quickly go off the rails when Paul Walter Hauser’s character, after having a bit too much to drink, runs onto the field. Then, Wahlberg’s character accidentally blocks a goal! Seriously, the whole thing causes Brazil to lose, and the trailer shows these two guys becoming public enemies number one, with the entire country seemingly after them. It’s coming out on April 15th, and I’m already excited!
Alongside Mark Wahlberg and John Hauser, the comedy film Ball’s Up boasts a talented cast fitting for director Peter Farrelly, known for his Oscar-winning work. The script was written by the team behind Deadpool, Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese. Molly Shannon, a former Saturday Night Live star, appears as a company executive, and Sacha Baron Cohen (Borat) plays a drug lord who hosts Wahlberg and Hauser’s characters in a dramatic scene from the trailer. The film also features Eric André (The Eric André Show), Benjamin Bratt (Miss Congeniality), Eva De Dominici (The Fragility of Bodies), and Daniela Melchior (Road House).
More to come.
