Ball X Pit Is Rolling, With 400,000 Copies Sold In First Week

Devolver Digital and Kenny Sun announced that Ball X Pit had a strong first week, selling over 400,000 copies. It’s important to note that the game is also available through Xbox Game Pass, so that number doesn’t reflect total players.

Ball X Pit recently shared its stats from its first week after launching on October 15th. The game reached 34,500 players at its peak, became the fourth most-played game on Steam Deck, and viewers watched over 1.3 million hours of gameplay on Twitch.

Here’s a quick look at our launch week numbers: we sold over 400,000 copies, received more than 4,000 reviews (with 95% being overwhelmingly positive), and had over 34,500 players online at the same time. Viewers watched over 1.3 million hours on Twitch, totaling 5.6 million views of recorded broadcasts. Plus, 1,400 people connected their Twitch accounts to the game, and we landed at #4 on Steam’s Top Played list for Steam Deck users. Incredible!

Okay, so I just started playing Ball X Pit, and it’s seriously addictive! It reminds me a bit of games like Vampire Survivors, Loop Hero, and even Balatro – it’s got that same ‘just one more run’ feeling. Basically, you’re smashing bricks with tons of different balls – over 60, actually! – and fusing them together to get even stronger and take down enemies. But it’s not just about blasting things. You also rebuild this place called Ballbylon using over 70 different building blocks, and that unlocks cool new power-ups and characters to play as. It’s a really neat combination of action and strategy!

Ball X Pit is available now on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch, and it’s coming to the new Switch 2 this fall. Good news for Switch 2 owners – you can actually play it right now thanks to the system’s backward compatibility! And for those wondering how to say the game’s name, just pronounce it as if the ‘X’ isn’t there.
