Clouded Leopard Entertainment and Metal Head Games have launched Back to the Dawn for Nintendo Switch. The prison escape RPG is now available digitally on Nintendo eShops around the world, including in the US, where both versions of the game cost $34.99.
I first jumped into this game on PC back in November 2023 when it launched as an Early Access title on Steam. It finally got its full release in July 2025. When it initially came out on PC, you could only play with subtitles in Chinese (both Simplified and Traditional), Japanese, Korean, and English. But the developers just added a proper Russian translation last month, which is awesome! What’s really cool is that the console versions actually have voice acting – specifically in Japanese and Chinese. It makes a big difference!
Even with the game coming to Nintendo Switch, Clouded Leopard still intends to release it on PlayStation 5. Currently, the PS5 version is expected to launch sometime in 2026.
Clouded Leopard has released a launch trailer for Back to the Dawn on Nintendo Switch 1 & 2, offering it in several languages. While trailers are available in Japanese, Korean, and both Simplified and Traditional Chinese, you can watch the English version with Japanese voice acting below.
The popular escape RPG is back, now featuring improved subtitles and new voice acting in Japanese and Chinese. These additions create a more immersive and dramatic experience.
Enter a high-security animal prison filled with crime, secrets, and backstabbing. You’ll play as an inmate trying to survive, build alliances (or rivalries), and ultimately escape.
Break free. Uncover the truth. Survive the darkness.
