Back to Hogwarts 2024: Warner Bros. Discovery Sets Out Global ‘Harry Potter’ Celebrations

As a dedicated “Harry Potter” fan who has attended every Back to Hogwarts event since its inception, I’m both excited and disappointed by this year’s announcement. While it’s wonderful that Warner Bros. Discovery is expanding the celebration beyond London and New York, it’s disheartening that we won’t be gathering at Kings Cross station in person.

As a long-time Harry Potter fan, I am thrilled to share that the much-awaited annual Hogwarts event is making a comeback this year with a fresh twist! Having grown up reading J.K. Rowling’s magical tales, attending this fan gathering feels like coming home to a warm and welcoming community. The anticipation builds as we delve into the intricacies of the Harry Potter universe, share our favorite moments, and create new memories together. This year’s event is sure to be an unforgettable experience that I am eagerly looking forward to!

Instead of heading to Kings Cross station in London for in-person events hosted by Warner Bros. Discovery, fans are advised against making the trip due to past celebrations held at this location.

Every September 1st, this occasion kicks off – the day Hogwarts students typically journey from London to their school. Originally starting as an impromptu gathering of fans in London, it has since blossomed into a grand yearly spectacle, now sponsored by Warner Bros. Discovery.

Thousands of fans, some dressed up and wielding wands, flocked to Kings Cross station the previous year, creating challenges for travelers aiming to board trains.

As a dedicated Harry Potter fan who has been eagerly waiting for the annual event at my local train station for years, I was really looking forward to it this year. The excitement of seeing the Hogwarts Express depart, the magic in the air, and the sense of community with fellow fans is something I always looked forward to.

At Grand Central Terminal in New York, starting from August 30th until September 1st, there will be a Harry Potter-themed pop-up shop called “Back to Hogwarts.” This event will offer numerous themed activities. The grand finale will be a ticketed celebration on the last day.

To mark the occasion of Back to Hogwarts, the eight “Harry Potter” movies will be screened once again in cinemas around the globe for a brief period, starting now and ending on September 1st (please check local listings). On the same day, September 1st, Snapchat users can enjoy two new Harry Potter-themed lenses. In certain cities worldwide, fans have the opportunity to see the Hogwarts Express train against five famous landmarks from August 26th to September 9th: the Eiffel Tower, Copacabana Fort, The National Gallery, Grand Central Terminal, and the Hachiko Statue.

As a supporter, I’m thrilled to share that fans have lots in store for them! They can look forward to an array of unique experiences, both digital and in-person. This includes participating in exciting events and watching along with fellow enthusiasts. Moreover, some remarkable “Harry Potter” locations like the Warner Bros. Studio Tours, Wizarding World theme parks, and various traveling exhibits, will commemorate these moments with special celebrations.

The Lego Company will also be getting in on the action at retail stores and on Lego.com.
