Ayushmann Khurrana, a popular Bollywood actor, has secured a Halloween 2025 premiere for his horror-comedy “Thama.” This is a significant milestone as it represents the first time he leads a major holiday release during his more than ten years in the industry.

The film produced by Dinesh Vijan and helmed by Aditya Sarpotdar under the Maddock Films banner marks a notable step up in Khurrana’s career. Known for his distinctive roles in offbeat scripts and comedies with a social message, he has earned a strong standing as one of Hindi cinema’s leading actors.

The movie by Maddock Films, led by Dinesh Vijan as producer and Aditya Sarpotdar as director, signifies a career advancement for Khurrana. Renowned for his roles in atypical scripts and comedies with a social message, he has established himself as one of the top actors in Hindi films.

The film “Thama” is an extension of Maddock’s horror-comedy universe, and the studio responsible for hits such as “Stree 2,” “Munjya,” and “Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya” (which were blockbusters in 2024), revealed a series of eight films connected to each other earlier this year, scheduled to release over the next four years.

Starting from “Thama,” on December 31, we move forward to “Shakti Shalini.” In the year 2026, moviegoers can anticipate two releases – “Bhediya 2” on August 14 and “Chamunda” on December 4. The following year brings “Stree 3” on August 13 and “Mahamunjya” on December 24. The grand finale in 2028 will feature two films: “Pehla Mahayudh” on August 11, followed by “Doossra Mahayudh” on October 18, Diwali.

Khurrana expressed his excitement saying, “It’s a fantastic feeling to have a Diwali release with ‘Thama.’ This is the biggest launch of my career and I can’t wait to share joy, happiness, and laughter with the entire nation through ‘Thama.’ Knowing that my film could be part of people’s enjoyable festive period feels incredibly surreal.

Typically, the Diwali period has been known for showcasing Bollywood’s leading actors and blockbuster films, symbolizing Khurrana’s transition from an indie favorite to a major box office contender. This year, “Thama” is the only Bollywood movie scheduled for release during the Diwali vacation, which will occur on October 20th.

Regarding Diwali, for me, it’s all about unity, bonding with loved ones, and enjoying the greatest community feelings by celebrating with friends. As a passionate movie enthusiast, I always make sure to visit cinemas with my family on this festival. The joy we share during these outings is immeasurable, and it brings me immense happiness to witness crowds flocking to theaters to enjoy blockbuster releases.

The film titled “Thama” unites a talented cast consisting of Rashmika Mandanna, Paresh Rawal, and Nawazuddin Siddiqui. Aditya Sarpotdar is the director, with the screenplay being written by Niren Bhatt, Suresh Mathew, and Arun Fulara. Dinesh Vijan and Amar Kaushik serve as producers for this production.
