Obsidian’s newest RPG, titled Avowed, bears a resemblance to The Outer Worlds in its world design, and presents decisions tough enough to make seasoned players ponder their in-game moves. Yet, the narrative might not have reached its end just yet.
In The Living Lands, you assume the role of the Aedyran Envoy, handpicked by the Emperor to eradicate a catastrophic plague that’s decimating both human and animal populations. This disaster is threatening the Aedyran expansion. You’ll encounter charming companions along the way, engage in thrilling combat, and lose yourself in a world so vivid it feels almost limitless – although technically not open-world.
Indeed, the game was warmly embraced, garnering a 4/5 in our review and being lauded as a title that other RPGs could learn from. Yet, upon completing the primary narrative, it appears there might still be more to uncover within this game.
Avowed DLC likely according to director
In an interview with Bloomberg, Carrie Patel, the confirmed director of Avowed, expressed her enthusiasm about the upcoming Pillars of Eternity spin-off, suggesting potential developments such as expansions, additional content, and possibly Downloadable Content (DLC).
Patel shared with Bloomberg his sentiment: “Having created this incredible realm and established a strong team dynamic centered on its content and gameplay, I’m eager for us to explore and expand further within it.
It seems that the Obsidian team hasn’t revealed specific plans yet about Avowed, but based on Patel’s statement, it’s evident that Avowed isn’t going to disappear from our radar. So, it’s advisable to anticipate additional DLC, new content, or an expansion in the future.
Following its release, Bloomberg stated that “Avowed was definitely worth the wait.” The gaming community has been extremely enthusiastic about the game, and the company itself is content with the sales numbers they’ve seen thus far, demonstrating the remarkable success of Avowed for Obsidian.
