In the game Avowed, the Ranger class is exceptionally versatile right from the beginning. They can effectively wield one-handed weapons, shields, crossbows, pistols, and bows. If you’re planning to assume the role of a Ranger, these are the optimal early weapons you should aim to acquire.
Best early-game weapons for Rangers in Avowed
Last Light of Day
If you prefer using single-handed swords for swiftly defeating enemies, the Last Light of Day is likely your ideal choice among early options. This flaming longsword inflicts significant damage, a part of which is Fire damage, making it simple to set foes ablaze with minimal strikes. Additionally, it boasts Fine quality, granting it superior stats compared to basic longswords you’ll encounter. Through enchantments, you can enhance the blade’s capabilities to either restore your health or boost its stun power upon parrying attacks. In Dawnshore, this is the finest longsword you will come across during your stay.
To acquire the Final Light of Dusk, venture into the Eothasian Temple situated north of Paradis. The Pilgrim’s Path will guide you towards the eccentric Oracle who holds it. Rest assured, he’ll be hard to overlook. Keep in mind that defeating him is necessary for you to claim this sword from his lifeless form.
Caeroc’s Pride
If you’d rather handle firearms over a long range than brandish an elegant sword, then give Caeroc’s Pride a try. This extraordinary pistol is preloaded with shock bullets that detonate upon impact, offering impressive area-of-effect damage. Moreover, any adversary struck by it will accumulate high levels of Shock.
Charmed by this exceptional pistol, you can boost its capability to build up Shock Damage not only on targeted foes but also on surrounding ones. This multi-enemy impact establishes Caeroc’s Pride as the top-tier pistol during the early stages of the game.
To acquire Caeroc’s Pride, you should eliminate Tempestuous Luandi, a bounty target accessible from the bounty board within Paradis. Once you claim her bounty, you’ll receive a marker pointing to her location. If you’re keen on this pursuit, you can locate her wandering in the Ship Graveyard, situated southeast of Shantytown, outside the boundaries of Paradis. Approach with caution, as she carries a formidable pistol for self-defense.
The Disappointer
Initially, this gun may seem underwhelming due to its name suggesting lackluster performance. However, it possesses a potent Bleeding Lash effect that causes targets to accumulate bleed damage upon being hit. Unfortunately, it also has a 10% damage reduction when first acquired. But By enhancing this seemingly weak firearm, you can transform its 10% damage reduction into an impressive 10% increase, making it one of the strongest pistols in Dawnshore, second only to another weapon.
Unlike the other two items, The Disappointer isn’t obtained through violence. Instead, you can buy it from a vendor nestled in Paradis Hightown, slightly north of the Philosophers’ Alley marker on your map. Once you reach this area, it will automatically appear on your map, making it easy for you to locate the merchant. Just remember to bring some money along for the transaction.
Sheathed in Summer
If you’re more comfortable with stealthy fighting styles, I strongly recommend acquiring Sheathed in Summer. This swiftly striking flamethrower dagger inflicts substantial Fire damage per strike and boasts a significant bonus to Fire Accumulation when used in a single combo of dagger attacks. In the game Avowed, there’s no better early acquisition for dagger combat enthusiasts, so if you enjoy wielding daggers, this weapon is tailor-made for you.
To obtain Summar, hidden within Octav the Firebrand’s corpse (also known as the Firebrand), a bounty target, head to the bounty board in Paradis. He resides deep within the Godless Ruins, northwest of Paradis. Be cautious when approaching as Octav the Firebrand wields a dagger and can be quite aggressive.
Wind and Wave
In the unexpected listing, there’s a shield labeled as a weapon in the game “Avowed.” This might surprise you, but it’s well-justified. The Wind and Wave shield is primarily used for defense, however, even just equipping it gives you an advantageous 10% increase in movement speed constantly, making dodging and weaving during combat that much smoother.
This shield offers substantial protection against Frost Accumulation. In the game Avowed, getting frozen is lethal, particularly on higher levels of difficulty, making this shield quite valuable. Moreover, it can be used alongside any of the weapons mentioned in the list. Truly a great find.
Instead of every other item on this list, the Wind and Wave can be discovered in a concealed treasure box situated to the northeast of the Western Paragrun Wall Beacon. Start by teleporting there first, then move directly northeast along the Old Paragrun Wall until you come across this specific stretch of wall where you’ll find the hidden chest.
From here, dive underwater and look for a cave entrance right on the river bank.
Venture through here, and I guarantee you’ll stumble upon a secret hoard, where Wind and Wave are eagerly anticipating your arrival!
