Avengers: Only 1 Fox X-Men Character May Survive Doomsday & Be Cast in Secret Wars

Avengers: Secret Wars may star only one of the Fox X-Men characters.

Marvel is currently finishing up work on Avengers: Doomsday, directed by Joe and Anthony Russo. It’s expected to hit US theaters later this year, with Avengers: Secret Wars planned for release in 2027.

Several characters from the X-Men movies—including Beast (Kelsey Grammer), Professor X (Patrick Stewart), Magneto (Ian McKellen), Nightcrawler (Alan Cumming), Mystique (Rebecca Romijn), and Cyclops (James Marsden)—are expected to appear in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday film. Marvel has not revealed how significant their roles will be, or whether they will also be included in Avengers: Secret Wars.

Which X-Men character may survive Avengers: Doomsday and be in Secret Wars?

When asked if any X-Men would survive the upcoming ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ and continue on to ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’, scooper James Mack shared a picture of James Marsden as Cyclops, strongly suggesting his return. This implies the future isn’t looking good for the other X-Men characters.

Currently, this is just speculation, as the cast for Secret Wars hasn’t been officially revealed.

In the Secret Wars comic by Jonathan Hickman and Esad Ribić, a unique ship called the Life Raft was built to survive the destruction of colliding universes. When Earth-616 and Earth-1610 crashed into each other, many famous Marvel heroes escaped on the Life Raft. However, the ship was lost for years, giving Doctor Doom the opportunity to build Battleworld.

It’s still unclear how much the upcoming Secret Wars movie will follow the original comic book storyline. The movie is scheduled to release on December 17, 2027, and is part of Phase 6 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, following the December 18, 2026 release of Avengers: Doomsday.
