So, Joe Russo, one of the directors of Endgame, just dropped some news! Apparently, the re-release is going to have extra scenes that basically act as a bridge to the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday movie. He’s calling it a ‘critical companion story,’ which sounds like it’ll fill in some important gaps and get us hyped for what’s next. I’m definitely going to check it out!
The Avengers had a major moment this week! Robert Downey Jr. unveiled the very first trailer for the upcoming film, Avengers: Doomsday, at CinemaCon in Las Vegas.
The video hasn’t been published online yet, but it offers a first glimpse of the actor as Doctor Doom and confirms Chris Evans will reprise his role as Steve Rogers.
Joe and Anthony Russo, the directors of Avengers: Endgame, have announced that when the film is re-released in September, it will include never-before-seen footage. Joe Russo recently explained how this new content will tie into the upcoming release of ‘Doomsday’ in December.
Joe Russo says new Avengers: Endgame scenes are “set in the Doomsday story”

Joe Russo announced at the Sands Film Festival in St. Andrews, Scotland, that new footage for the upcoming Avengers: Endgame sequel will include a separate, related story.
According to Deadline, Russo emphasized the importance of re-releasing the movie. He explained that the re-release will include additional footage tied to the ‘Doomsday’ storyline, which has been added to ‘Avengers: Endgame’.
Russo explains that this is a chance to connect the events of Endgame with Doomsday in a fresh and interesting way. The success of the film also allows them to release it again.

It’s rare to get a second chance to revisit a story because it can be expensive. So, being able to expand on the ‘Doomsday’ story and connect it to ‘Endgame,’ continuing the journeys of characters we’ve developed and care about for so long, is a special and unusual opportunity.
Russo described the newly released footage as an important story addition to the upcoming sequel, and stated that it will provide context for the events viewers will see in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ this December.
Avengers: Endgame will be back in theaters on September 25, 2026, and the next Avengers film, Doomsday, will follow on December 18. If you’re looking for more Marvel movies, check out our ranking of every film from worst to best.
