The movie “Avengers: Doomsday” boasts a considerable lineup of superheroes, with several characters having their first appearance in Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) through Disney+ shows.
The upcoming film titled “Avengers: Doomsday” is set to be the first significant cross-over movie since Disney+ was launched. This move allows Marvel Universe (MCU) stories to extend across both cinema and TV shows. With Disney+, Marvel Studios has introduced numerous new MCU characters, some of whom will have their moment in the limelight in this upcoming blockbuster production.
MCU Disney+ Heroes Who Will Appear in Avengers: Doomsday
Joaquin Torres/Falcon
In the latest installment of “Captain America: Brave New World“, Joaquin Torres made his first appearance as the Falcon, teaming up with his fellow hero and guide, Sam Wilson, who goes by the title of the new Captain America.
Prior to making his cinematic debut, Danny Ramirez had already portrayed a character on Disney+’s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Specifically, he appeared as Torres across five episodes.
Currently, it’s confirmed that Falcon, played by Ramirez, is set to appear alongside the Avengers in their upcoming film titled “Avengers: Doomsday”.
John Walker/U.S. Agent
In the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s debut of “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier,” a character named John Walker, portrayed by Wyatt Russell, also makes an appearance. Known later as U.S. Agent.
As a devoted admirer, let me recount the story where John Walker steps into the limelight as the U.S. government’s selection for the new Captain America, even though Steve Rogers himself passed on his shield to his friend Sam. However, Walker struggles to embody the values of Captain America and eventually loses the title following a startling incident.
In my critique, I must say that while Walker was somewhat sidelined in the previous installment, he’s not completely out of the picture. He’s set to appear as a member of Valentina Allegra de Fontaine’s band of antiheroes in the upcoming film, Thunderbolts. After that electrifying encounter, we can expect him to rejoin the action in the next Avengers adventure, number 5.
Yelena Belova
In the movie “Avengers: Doomsday,” several characters from the team have made appearances in Disney+ projects separate from their Marvel films. One such character is Yelena Belova (portrayed by Florence Pugh), who is Natasha Romanoff’s adoptive sister and was first introduced in the film “Black Widow.
Following her escape from the Red Room, Yelena spent numerous years working tirelessly to liberate other individuals from Dreykov’s grasp. Tragically, she was affected by the snap and reappeared later to discover that her sister had perished during the battle against Thanos.
This resulted in Yelena accepting a task given by Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, which wrongly placed her at odds with Clint Barton over the murder of her sister in Hawkeye. Once she uncovered the truth about this predicament, Yelena transitioned into a mercenary for hire. This is where we’ll encounter her again in Thunderbolts before the events of Avengers: Doomsday.
Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier
Sebastian Stan’s portrayal of Bucky Barnes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has reached a notable achievement, and his storyline further expanded when he moved from the big screen to the small screen in “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
In the narrative of “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier,” the theme of Captain America’s legacy was explored. Given Bucky’s deep friendship with Steve Rogers, it was fitting for him to be involved in these events. The actor portraying the Winter Soldier, Stan, is not wrapping up his run anytime soon. Instead, you can expect to see him on the big screen in “Thunderbolts” and the upcoming “Avengers” film.
Sam Wilson/Captain America
Initially, Anthony Mackie portrayed Sam Wilson in the movie “Captain America: The Winter Soldier“, but he’s also made a mark in the Marvel universe on Disney+, spearheading the series “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier“.
Wilson’s adventure through his Disney+ series culminated in him transforming from the Falcon into Captain America, allowing him to star in his own film, “Captain America: Brave New World.” His next mission will be as a potential commander of the Avengers in “Doomsday.
Loki
Following a series of memorable roles as Loki, the Trickster, in the Thor films, Disney+ provided Tom Hiddleston the opportunity to headline his own show titled Loki. This series played a significant part in introducing key elements to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), such as the Time Variance Authority (TVA) and the complexities of the Multiverse.
In the finale of Loki Season 2, Tom Hiddleston’s character was bestowed a significant new position as the God of Stories. This role suggests a major part in upcoming events related to Marvel’s Multiverse, as hinted by his presence in Avengers: Doomsday.
Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled for release on May 1, 2026.
