People who enjoyed James Cameron’s Avatar movies are encouraging each other to see ‘Fire and Ash’ repeatedly in theaters, as the third film isn’t performing as well as previous installments at the box office.
The first Avatar movie was a massive cultural hit, becoming the highest-grossing film ever made with nearly $3 billion in box office revenue.
The 2022 follow-up film, The Way of Water, was also a huge success, earning $2.3 billion and becoming one of the highest-grossing movies ever made – currently ranking as the third biggest of all time.
As of today, the third Avatar movie isn’t performing as well as its predecessors. While it has still earned around $1.3 billion – placing it among the top 25 highest-grossing films of all time – it’s making significantly less money than the previous two films as its theatrical run comes to a close.
With the film’s numbers dropping, dedicated fans are asking others to help boost its performance. They’re encouraging fellow fans to see the movie multiple times, hoping to improve box office results and secure the future of the series.
Avatar fans urged to ‘help’ Fire and Ash at box office
While Avatar 4 and Avatar 5 are currently scheduled for release in December 2029 and December 2031, respectively, these dates aren’t confirmed. James Cameron recently expressed concerns about the high production costs and whether the sequels will actually happen.
He explained that they need a huge amount of revenue – double what it takes to cover costs – just to turn a profit.
With the latest ‘Fire and Ash’ movie not performing as well as hoped, dedicated fans worry the story might not be finished. They’re now working to increase ticket sales during the film’s final weeks in theaters, hoping to ensure the last two parts of the story get made.
Okay, fellow Avatar fans, this is important! I saw a post on Reddit that really hit home – Pandora needs us to see this movie! It’s not just about enjoying it once, they’re asking us to go back to the theaters multiple times – like, at least twice! And even better, bring someone with you! Let’s show our support and help make sure this film does well.
One dedicated fan explained that even small contributions are valuable, saying, “Every dollar makes a difference, and they all add up.”

Disney remains very profitable, and everyone connected with the film has benefited financially, as ‘Fire and Ash’ is one of the highest-grossing movies of all time. However, it didn’t make quite as much money as the previous two installments.
Many people online felt a massive media franchise didn’t need their support, with one popular comment stating, “They don’t need our help.” Others expressed disappointment, saying things had gone too far.
While not everyone is enthusiastic, the post resonated with fans of Avatar, and many people have even volunteered to buy tickets for others who haven’t seen it yet.
It’s unclear if the current excitement will actually affect the movie’s total earnings, but it’s obvious fans are really looking forward to experiencing the story in theaters, rather than just hearing about it at press events, as the director has hinted.
