REVIEW: “Miroirs No. 3” (2026)

As a big fan of Christian Petzold, I’ve come to expect a certain magic from his films. He has this incredible ability to tell stories that feel completely real, almost documentary-like, but then layer in these classic movie tropes in a really clever way. “Miroirs No. 3” is no different – it’s another deeply moving and surprisingly ambiguous film with a lot going on beneath the surface. Usually, his movies have a strong political message, but this time around, he’s focused on a family drama, and he handles it with that same precise, no-fuss style he’s known for.

Fantasy Life Review: This Heartfelt Comedy Can’t Get Out Of Its Own Way

Okay, so the initial promise of this film quickly fades. Our lead, Sam, kind of gets lost in the shuffle as Amanda Peet’s character, Dianne, takes over, and while her energy is a breath of fresh air, it shifts the whole vibe. Honestly, it felt like the director pulled back a bit too, and the movie ended up feeling disjointed – a series of funny or interesting scenes that never quite gel into a satisfying whole. Peet’s performance is definitely the strongest part of Fantasy Life and honestly the main reason to check it out, but whether it’s enough to make the whole experience worthwhile? That’s really up to you.
