FX Networks shared a sneak peek of their upcoming series, The Beauty, starring Bella Hadid, Ashton Kutcher, Evan Peters, and Rebecca Hall. Disney+ has confirmed that the thriller will launch with three episodes on January 21st, available on both FX and Hulu. Here’s what the show is about:
The developers of Arc Raiders initially recorded voice actors, then used that data to train AI to replicate their voices for any situation in the game. This means they don’t need to bring the actors back every time new content is added – the AI learns to speak like them, with the actors’ permission. This approach isn’t new for the team, as their previous game, The Finals, also uses similar AI technology. While Embark has confirmed all the game’s visual art is created by humans, they admitted the AI voices are used for shopkeepers, emotes, and other minor character dialogue. This has made me feel uncertain about how much I want to praise the game, despite enjoying it.
As of today, December 22nd, the 2018 version of The Grinch is the second most popular movie on Netflix worldwide, according to FlixPatrol. It’s currently behind The Great Flood at number one and ahead of Jim Carrey’s 2000 film, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, which is in fifth place. Rounding out the top ten, My Secret Santa is currently number seven.
The initial trailer for The Odyssey, shown in theaters with Avatar: Fire & Ash and released online December 22nd, showcased the film’s impressive scale. However, it also made me rethink what to expect from the movie. Considering the director’s previous films, The Odyssey might be a departure from his usual style – a very different kind of movie than many anticipated.
I was so excited to finally see The Fantastic Four: First Steps when it came out in July! Matt Shakman did a fantastic job directing, and the cast is perfect. Pedro Pascal is brilliant as Reed Richards, and Vanessa Kirby really embodies Sue Storm. I think Ebon Moss-Bachrach is a great choice for Ben Grimm, and Joseph Quinn just is Johnny Storm. I’ve been waiting for this team to join the MCU, and it definitely didn’t disappoint!

Developer Gabor Fodor announced an update to PortalVR that allows players to use their Quest headset as a tracking device connected to a computer, letting them access the full range of games and experiences available on SteamVR. Instead of wearing the Quest as a virtual reality headset, the game is displayed on a regular monitor, and players use their Quest controllers to play.

As a huge fan of the Safdie brothers, I was really excited to see this – it’s Josh and Benny Safdie’s first full movie since Uncut Gems back in 2019. And it’s cool that Josh also put out a film this year, Marty Supreme, which feels like a wild companion piece to The Smashing Machine. A24 has clearly become their go-to studio, having backed both of these new ones, as well as Uncut Gems a few years back. They really know how to support interesting filmmaking.
