Australia’s Wooden Horse to Unveil New Project ‘The Chaplain’ at Series Mania’s Co-Pro Pitching Sessions (EXCLUSIVE)

Known for hit shows like “The Clearing” on Disney+ and “Stuff the British Stole” on CBC/ABC, Wooden Horse – a well-respected Australian independent production company – is revealing its upcoming series, titled “The Chaplain,” at this year’s Series Mania festival.

The project offers a compelling mix of drama and humor, unfolding amidst the lively atmosphere of a busy international airport. Here’s the summary: “Tobias Wallace, an airport chaplain with a persistent cell phone, a cash-filled drawer, and an unusual method for resolving daily airport chaos, finds his position under threat when new management is introduced. In response, Tobias comes up with more and more creative solutions to save his cherished chaplaincy, as it’s the only thing that seems to keep his inner turmoil at bay.

The series was conceived by Elise McCredie, along with Jude Troy who serves as joint-CEO and executive producer at Wooden Horse, both of whom share credit for creating the show. McCredie, recognized for her work on “Stateless,” and Troy, an experienced producer having worked with Hopscotch and eOne, bring a rich background of expertise and imagination to the project. The writing team is currently headed by McCredie, with more writers expected to contribute to the project later in the year.

Troy, McCredie, and Richard Finlayson, who serve as executive producer for the series and co-CEOs of Wooden Horse, will attend Series Mania to represent the show.

Troy shares that “The Chaplain” was born from a remarkable meeting he had with an airport chaplain at an international terminal. The time spent and tales shared by this individual opened his eyes to the rich tapestry of drama and humor concealed within the diverse crowd at airports. This, along with our distinctive hero, rapid tempo, high-energy narrative, and wealth of stories, makes “The Chaplain” a compelling series that truly resonates with today’s audience.

Established in 2019 by experienced industry professionals Troy and Finlayson, Wooden Horse has built a notable reputation for its unique, thought-provoking, and daring narrative style. Already granted development funds for “The Chaplain” by Vic Screen, the company is now actively searching for international distribution partners at Series Mania.
