Sony Pictures has unveiled a fresh trailer for their upcoming movie titled “Caught Stealing“. This upcoming production is from director Darren Aronofsky, featuring Austin Butler known for his role in “Elvis“, Zoe Kravitz who appeared in “The Batman“, and Matt Smith recognized for his work in “House of the Dragon“.
Based on Charlie Huston’s book of the same name, “Caught Stealing” is the title of an upcoming feature film. Huston, who has previously written screenplays for films like “Requiem for a Dream,” “The Wrestler,” and “Black Swan,” is also responsible for penning this film’s script. Darren Aronofsky, renowned director of those three movies, helms this project. The theatrical release of “Caught Stealing” is scheduled for Aug. 29, 2025. Below you can find the film’s trailer.

The plot of the movie centers around Hank Thompson (portrayed by Austin Butler). Once a star high-school baseball player, he can no longer play due to circumstances. Despite this, things are generally going well for him. He has a wonderful girlfriend (Zoë Kravitz), works at a bar in New York, and his favorite team is unexpectedly making a push towards the championship.
When Russ, Hank’s punk-rock neighbor (played by Matt Smith), asks him to look after his cat for a short period, an unexpected series of events unfold. Hank finds himself in the midst of a group of intimidating gangsters who seem determined to involve him in their affairs, but he can’t figure out why. As he struggles to avoid their persistent pursuit, Hank must rely on his quick thinking and resourcefulness to stay alive until he uncovers the truth…
In addition to Butler, Kravitz, and Smith, the movie also features Regina King (known for her role in Shirley), Liev Schreiber (recognized from Ray Donovan), Vincent D’Onofrio (upcoming in Daredevil: Born Again), Griffin Dunne (famous for An American Werewolf in London), Benito A Martínez Ocasio/Bad Bunny (recently seen in Bullet Train), and Carol Kane (currently starring in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds).
