As a dedicated Stalker fan with countless hours lost in the hauntingly beautiful Chernobyl Exclusion Zone, I must admit that my excitement for Stalker 2 has been dampened by the persistent audio bugs that have plagued this masterpiece. From sudden sound freezes to issues in cutscenes and spatial sound, these glitches have become a constant annoyance during my gaming sessions.

In our assessment, Stalker 2 certainly offers intrigue, but it’s undeniable that it’s plagued with technical glitches, as noted in our tech review. The developers are making attempts to rectify these problems, such as addressing the challenges with ultrawide support and the A-Life feature. However, it’s clear that resolving these issues will be a protracted process. As a result, we’re unsure when audio problems reported by some gamers will be addressed.

Audio Bugs in Stalker 2

Users have mentioned that their audio is acting oddly. This term may mean different things to different people. Some users encounter a sudden pause in the sound, while others struggle with audio problems during cutscenes or spatial sound issues. There are numerous minor glitches, and when combined, they cause significant issues. In our experience, simply restarting the game resolves the problem (at least temporarily). If this does not suffice, the developers have provided solutions for such instances, which we will share below:

  1. Update your audio drivers.
  2. Go to Properties of your playback device and in the Advanced section set the Default Format to 24 bit, 44100 Hz (Studio Quality) or higher.
  3. Switch Audio devices.
  4. Disable background applications.
  5. Verify files.
  6. Run the game as administrator.
