Aubrey Plaza Never Watched ‘White Lotus’ Because ‘I Had Trouble Opening My Max Account’ and ‘Couldn’t Figure Out the Password…I’d Love a DVD’

As someone who has always admired Aubrey Plaza for her quirky charm and unapologetic candor, I find her approach to technology both amusing and relatable. It’s refreshing to see a celebrity, who is critically acclaimed and nominated for prestigious awards, struggle with the very same issues that plague us common folk – passwords on streaming platforms.

Aubrey Plaza gained significant praise and an Emmy nomination for her portrayal of Harper in “The White Lotus” Season 2, even though she didn’t watch a single episode from the show herself. In a conversation with The Wall Street Journal Magazine, the comedian openly confessed that she hasn’t managed to log into her HBO Max account to view her episodes on Mike White’s popular anthology series.

“Plaza admitted she hasn’t managed to yet, but plans to, as she encountered difficulties setting up her HBO Max account initially. Specifically, she was unable to recall the correct password and typically abandons efforts when faced with such challenges. Simply put, she finds it frustrating to deal with issues like this.”

“I’d love a DVD, but they don’t send DVD sets anymore,” Plaza added. “I ask them every time.”

For quite some time, Plaza has expressed her frustrations concerning streaming platforms. Last year, she confided in Vanity Fair that these situations make her feel extremely irritated when she’s compelled to utilize one.

Originally, Plaza expressed frustration about not being able to access Hulu + Live TV to watch ‘Top Chef’ Season 20. She admitted she found it challenging, and eventually decided to abandon the attempt. In her leisure time, instead of exploring other streaming platforms, she prefers purchasing old movies on iTunes or acquiring entire series like ‘The Sopranos’. However, her husband often reminds her that these shows are available for free on HBO Max.

Back in 2022, I confided in EbMaster that I indeed managed to catch the first season of “The White Lotus,” and boy, did I fall head over heels for it, all thanks to my admiration for Mike White. That’s what prompted me to accept a role he penned especially for me in Season 2.

In my own words, Plaza shared, “I was really into Season 1, but what truly excited me was the opportunity to work with Mike White. I feel incredibly fortunate to be part of this TV series, and I don’t want to disappoint anyone involved. It seems like everyone has been watching this show.”

It could be beneficial for Plaza to determine her Max password ahead of 2025, as that’s when “The White Lotus” is scheduled to come back for its third season. Check out her recent interview with The Wall Street Journal Magazine, posted below.
