Previously this year, developer Rebellion launched the apocalyptic action game Atomfall on PC and gaming consoles. A few months following its debut, Rebellion is now inviting us for a return to their nuclear-stricken alternate UK reality with the Wicked Isle story expansion pack DLC. This addition will introduce a new location for exploration, along with fresh weapons, adversaries, and secrets to decipher as you delve deeper into the background of the devastating Windscale incident’s history.
This week, Rebellion unveiled details about the Wicked Isle DLC for Atomfall through an announcement and gameplay trailer. The expansion is slated for release on June 3, 2025, for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC platforms. In this new chapter of Atomfall, players will uncover fresh insights into the Windscale disaster as depicted in the game. This exploration takes them to a previously unexplored location on Midsummer Isle, where they’ll delve into its hidden and perilous mysteries. The island initially appears as a village reclaimed by nature powered by nuclear energy and fungus, but it gradually reveals itself as an island shrouded in storm clouds and teeming with dangerous confrontations.
In your journey ahead, you’ll encounter new groups such as the Lake Bandits and strange mutated beings that obstruct your path. To tackle these obstacles, you’ll have access to innovative weapons like the Blunderbuss Shotgun. This crude gun offers a powerful blow and can even ignite your foes. However, be cautious as human adversaries can also wield this weapon against you. On the other hand, Atomfall’s main storyline was captivating, and Wicked Isle introduces additional gameplay elements to it. New enigmas and quests will prompt you to revisit the mainland for more information, which could potentially alter several endings in the primary game.
