At The Moment Media Aims to Tell Media-Industry Stories Via Video

Among various sources reporting on Disney’s recent upfront event, an unconventional one stood out – At The Moment Media.

Currently, At The Moment functions as a communication platform rather than a news organization. Its primary focus is on disseminating facts across industries like information, marketing, and media. The newly established company aims to assist executives and businesses in narrating their stories via video content. It was recently founded by Robert Wheeler, who served most recently as the Chief Marketing Officer for the North American operations of WPP’s extensive GroupM media-buying division.

Wheeler points out that every company’s communication strategy typically includes engaging with the industry via journalists and launching their own marketing initiatives, as well as managing channels they own. He suggests there’s an opportunity for a third-party platform to collaborate, helping to share a company’s narrative. Traditional journalism, he notes, can sometimes be unreliable because it may not always accurately convey the intended message due to its unpredictability.

Wheeler, having just departed from GroupM, embarks on a new venture, as an increasing number of companies seek proficiency in delivering messages through concise videos, catering to an audience that predominantly consumes news and information via mobile devices. Notably, these firms frequently employ influencers for this purpose.

At The Moment, he says, has a name he hope evokes immediacy and fun.

He aims to assist executives and businesses in discussing “the narrative of self, the way they share their tales, their perception of their viewers, and their desired communication method.” Similarly, he plans to provide guidance for journalists and influencers on this matter, he adds.

Wheeler has had extensive experience in various aspects of media and advertising. He kickstarted his career as a page at NBC, eventually advancing to numerous public relations and communication positions within NBCUniversal. These roles included serving as a spokesperson for Bravo, Oxygen, and iVillage, an early digital platform. Later on, he worked for AT&T and Tom Rogers, a former TiVo executive, before joining Xandr, a technology-focused subsidiary that AT&T established after purchasing Time Warner’s former assets, later followed by GroupM.

As media diversifies, Wheeler believes that businesses will have the opportunity to effectively share their narratives consistently across multiple platforms by utilizing his innovative venture. His ambition is to provide a fresh approach for storytelling, particularly in the areas of advertising, entertainment, technology, and media.
