As a seasoned gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I can confidently say that the current gaming landscape is more exciting than ever before. The latest development that has caught my eye is the $400 deal on the Asus ROG Ally with the AMD Ryzen Z1 chip at Walmart. However, being a savvy shopper, I’m a bit puzzled by its appearance on Walmart’s site when it’s an exclusive retail partner for Best Buy.
At Walmart, you can get your hands on the Asus ROG Ally equipped with AMD Ryzen Z1 chip for just $400. This could be one of the last opportunities to grab a discount on the standard version of ROG Ally as it stands, since Best Buy, the sole retailer for the ROG Ally, has updated their listing to reflect that the Z1 model is no longer available in new condition.
It seems that while Walmart appears to offer the ROG Ally on their site, it’s actually Antonline who is handling the sales and shipping of this device. However, if you encounter any problems or wish to return the item as a gift, you can do so at your local Walmart store until January 31, as it qualifies for Walmart’s extended holiday returns policy.
For gaming enthusiasts seeking greater processing power, Best Buy continues to stock the ROG Ally, equipped with the Z1 Extreme chip. This model boasts an extra two CPU cores and a superior graphics unit compared to its standard counterpart. However, given the current price disparity – $400 for the base model and $650 for the Z1 Extreme version – the performance enhancements might not justify the increased cost.
If you want the Z1 Extreme chip, the better deal right now is the Lenovo Legion Go for $549 at Amazon. You’ll get the same internal specs with a larger 8.8-inch display boasting 1600p resolution. The Legion Go also has detachable controllers like the Nintendo Switch, which is a pretty neat feature.
The cutting-edge Z1 Extreme chip is incorporated in the latest member of Asus’s handheld PC lineup, namely the ROG Ally X. However, the ROG Ally X delivers significant performance enhancements with its upgrade to 24GB RAM and boasts additional appealing upgrades such as a 1TB SSD, extended battery life, and enhanced joysticks. Nevertheless, the ROG Ally X comes at a premium price tag of $800.
For those intrigued by the ROG Ally X, it’s essential to know that Asus will be launching a version priced at $900, featuring a 2TB SSD, on December 9.
