Assassin’s Creed Year 1 Roadmap Outlines New Story Content And Improved Parkour

Ubisoft has detailed their plans for Assassin’s Creed Shadows during its first year, starting in May with various major enhancements being introduced to the game. In a developer diary, Ubisoft announced that May will bring new story material to the game, centered around Portuguese scholar Luis Frois, along with a new character as an ally, fresh abilities, and improvements to user experience.

In late May, the parkour gameplay will undergo a significant enhancement, as the character Naoe will gain abilities such as wall-vaulting, grabbing low ledges, and several other fresh maneuvers. This update also introduces the height-increasing back-ejection move that has been rejuvenated, along with a fully revitalized side-ejection move for increased height.

At the end of May, there will be an improved photo feature where Yasuke or Naoe can strike a pose before a picture is taken. Additionally, Ubisoft has hinted at exciting collaborations coming in late May, but the identities of these characters are yet to be revealed as you continue your journey across Japan. As we approach June, anticipate additional story content, a new character joining your group, and a new difficulty level that Ubisoft had previously announced.

The game is set to receive enhancements, including the ability to disable character outlines during stealth, customizable headgear in cinematics, and the extension of alarm systems from castles across the entire game environment. Furthermore, Ubisoft is developing a wealth of extra content such as New Game Plus mode, additional Codex updates, new Animus material, and the Claws of Awaji expansion. This additional content comes at no extra cost for those who pre-ordered the game, offering an opportunity to discover a fresh island and learn a new bo staff weapon category with Naoe.

Ubisoft has consistently been improving Assassin’s Creed Shadows since its release in May, with significant updates enhancing its performance on PS5 Pro, introducing an auto-follow feature for players while riding horses, and rectifying bugs. The game has garnered a considerable fanbase since launch, ranking among the top-selling games in the US, surpassing Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, and there are rumors that it will be available on Nintendo Switch 2 as well.
