Assassin’s Creed Shadows release delayed to “further polish the title”

As a seasoned gamer with decades of gaming under my belt, I must say that I find myself both intrigued and slightly frustrated by Ubisoft’s latest move regarding Assassin’s Creed Shadows. The delay until February 2025 is a bit of a bummer, especially since I had already cleared my calendar for November 15, 2024. However, I understand the need for polish and learning from past mistakes, as evidenced by their recent experience with Star Wars Outlaws.

Ubisoft has revealed that the release date for Assassin’s Creed: Shadows has been pushed back to February 14, 2025, in order to give a more refined finish to this upcoming game within the series.

In a September 25 announcement, the developer shared that the game’s launch, originally scheduled for November 15, 2024, is now postponed. This decision stems from insights gained following the release of Star Wars Outlaws.

Ubisoft announced that the game has all its planned features, which means it won’t be sold with a Season Pass. Instead, everyone can start playing the game as soon as it’s released. Pre-orders, however, will still secure you the game’s initial expansion at no extra cost.

In recent times, it appears that the game’s developer may be pushing back the launch date, as they have withdrawn from several events. Yet, the development team is still actively engaging with the media leading up to the release, and sneak peeks of gameplay are finding their way into the public domain.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows release delayed to “further polish the title”

Since its initial unveiling, the latest installment of Assassin’s Creed has sparked debate due to allegations of historical inaccuracies, along with other criticisms that Ubisoft has addressed.

In his statement, Yves Guillemot, Co-Founder and CEO of Ubisoft, made it clear he would address the divided opinions about Ubisoft recently. He emphasized that their main focus is providing entertainment through games for a diverse audience. It’s not their intention to promote any particular viewpoint. Rather, they continue to create games aimed at satisfying both fans and players from all walks of life.

Despite receiving positive reviews, the Star Wars Outlaws game failed to reach its sales goals as indicated in the Ubisoft update. Consequently, the developers have continued to release additional updates for the game following its launch.

The upcoming video game Assassin’s Creed Shadows introduces two main characters, Naoe and Yasuke, set in feudal Japan. This title is slated for release on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Luna platforms. In anticipation of its launch, Ubisoft has emphasized the game’s innovative dynamic weather system and the parallel narrative of its protagonists.
