In a recent update, Ubisoft has rolled out patch 1.0.1 for Assassin’s Creed: Shadows. This patch primarily focuses on making improvements to the overall game stability and resolving technical issues associated with the photo mode, particularly on PC and PlayStation 5 platforms. However, it does not incorporate suggestions from players at this time.
The compact nature of its content might be surprising, considering its size. On an individual platform, the corresponding patch occupies a respective amount of space.
- Xbox Series X/S – 8.88 GB;
- PlayStation 5 – 1.41 GB;
- PC – 7.03 GB;
- MAC – 9 GB.
To ensure the ongoing success of their independent status, the French developer needs to meticulously manage the latest project codenamed “Assassin,” by regularly providing updates similar to its approach. This is crucial because past expensive missteps like Skull and Bones and Star Wars: Outlaws have eroded trust within a significant portion of the gaming community.
In the upcoming “Assassin’s Creed: Shadows,” Ubisoft plans to tackle various concerns, as it has already been played by more than 2 million individuals since its debut. However, the specific sales figures that determine its financial prosperity have yet to be revealed.
About AC: Shadows in Ubisoft’s internal message
Obtained through an internal email by IGN, we now have a clearer understanding of the market debut of the title in question during its first weekend. It appears that on its opening day, the game titled “Shadows” earned the second highest revenue in the brand’s history (surpassed only by Valhalla).
As a devoted fan, I can’t help but share my excitement about Assassin’s Creed: Shadows, which has truly shone among all the installments in the series on the PS Store. Interestingly, approximately 27% of its gameplay was engaged on PC, with Steam reportedly contributing significantly to this figure. Intriguingly, Ubisoft chose to revisit Valve’s platform while still utilizing their own launcher, demonstrating their commitment to catering to the preferences of gamers like me!
The rumor spreading among employees at the French firm suggests that Shadows is now the most commonly chosen game for addition to Ubisoft’s wishlist, and on Twitch, it outperforms any previous installment of the Assassin’s Creed series.
Do not compare
Although the Japanese “Assassin” boasts impressive figures, it may not have fared quite as well as Valhalla immediately following its launch. The author of the email pointed out that shadows and the Nordic installment are incomparable due to their vastly different circumstances. A more accurate comparison would be between the latest game and Origins, Mirage, or Odyssey.
In an unprecedented situation – right in the midst of a worldwide pandemic that led to extensive lockdowns and debut of novel console hardware (PS5, XSX/S), all released in 2020 including AC: Valhalla – Valhalla was launched. This unique confluence of events resembles a one-of-a-kind tempest and may never recur again. Consequently, it’s more appropriate to compare Shadows with previous games such as Origins, Odyssey, and Mirage – titles that were launched in more regular cycles. In this context, Shadows is already establishing a new benchmark, as demonstrated in the analysis provided above.
Additionally, there was a point made that “Shadows”, part of the Assassin’s Creed series, came out in March, unlike previous games which are usually launched prior to Thanksgiving (November). This means we’re unsure about the conclusion for the latest chapter in the assassin saga and how it might affect Ubisoft’s current circumstances. We’ll have to be patient to find out.
