Assassin's Creed Shadows Delayed Until Early 2025

As a seasoned Assassin’s Creed fan with years of stealthy parkour and historical adventure under my belt, I must admit that the latest twist in the saga has left me somewhat divided. The delay of Assassin’s Creed Shadows from November to February 2025 is a tough pill to swallow, but as someone who has witnessed the birth of many a polished gaming masterpiece, I understand the necessity for extra development time.

This week, Ubisoft postponed the unveiling of Assassin’s Creed Shadows without much detail given. Recently, Ubisoft revealed that the new installment of Assassin’s Creed has been pushed back from its initial November launch date. Instead, Assassin’s Creed Shadows is now expected to be released on Valentine’s Day 2025.

Marc-Alexis Côté, Vice President and Executive Producer of Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed series, shared on social media that the release date for Assassin’s Creed Shadows has been pushed back to allow the development team additional time to refine the game. Preorders will be refunded accordingly.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows will now release February 14, 2025.

After receiving updates about the latest news, Ubisoft informed their investors that Assassin’s Creed Shadow is now fully equipped with all its planned features. However, the positive feedback for Star Wars Outlaws led the developers to utilize extra time, aiming to ensure that this installment of the franchise can fulfill its grand aspirations completely. It appears that Star Wars Outlaws experienced lower sales than anticipated at launch, and Ubisoft is making efforts to prevent Assassin’s Creed Shadow from experiencing the same disappointing outcome.

In the official reveal, Ubisoft mentioned that Assassin’s Creed Shadows won’t adhere to their typical season pass format. Instead, those who preordered the game will receive the initial expansion at no extra cost. On February 14, every player can immerse themselves in the game’s recreation of feudal Japan. Notably, Assassin’s Creed Shadows will debut on Steam simultaneously, which signifies a change in Ubisoft’s recent business approach.
