Asmongold calls Twitch bans “inconsistent” over 14-day suspension

As a long-time Twitch viewer and admirer of Asmongold, I have always appreciated his honesty, wit, and unapologetic approach to streaming. However, I must admit that the recent 14-day ban he received has left me feeling somewhat perplexed.

According to Asmongold, Twitch appears to have shown inconsistency in their ban decisions, given his 14-day suspension from the streaming service.

On October 14th, Twitch streamer Asmongold faced criticism for comments regarding the dispute between Palestine and Israel. During a live broadcast on his zackrawrr account, the streamer expressed that the Palestinian population belongs to an allegedly “inferior culture” and showed no empathy towards them.

On social media, there was swift sharing of comments, largely by Twitch viewers (and even those who don’t regularly watch), urging action against him. However, after expressing an apology, Asmongold was temporarily suspended from the Amazon-owned platform for a period of 14 days.

Ever since that incident, he’s been vocal about Twitch’s perceived inconsistency in applying bans, an opinion he’s maintained for some time now.

In a post on his personal Reddit page, Asmon expressed his view that Twitch has significant issues with inconsistency in its bans. He’s created numerous videos discussing this matter and believes it remains valid on a daily basis, in response to fan comments questioning Twitch’s alleged hypocrisy.

The ban isn’t the sole consequence for the World of Warcraft streamer; he also had to part ways with the OTK group and their Starforge Systems enterprise as a result.

Asmongold has promised to return to Twitch after his ban and not change his content all that much.

In addition to this, he mentioned his intentions to travel to the Middle East during the upcoming year, expressing a desire to expand his viewpoints for the future.

In the year 2025, Twitch will provide clearer explanations for bans and even share related video clips with affected streamers to demonstrate the reasons behind these actions. Furthermore, they will offer an opportunity for streamers to contest their bans by appealing them.
