Asmongold, a popular Twitch streamer, publicly criticized Twitch for their multistreaming rules, which he perceives as unfairly favoring the purple platform.
In June, Asmongold and Tectone switched to streaming on Kick, marking a new dedication to multi-streaming. Right away, they shared the significant increase in their earnings since the switch.
Due to the growing focus on multi-streaming, numerous content creators such as FaZe, OTK, and a multitude of others joined in. However, this action brought into sharp relief Twitch’s stance regarding the practice of simulcasting.
It’s worth mentioning that the streamer known as ‘Nutty’ was suspended due to a breach of the regulations, which prohibit broadcasters from displaying chat rooms of other sites, sharing links to content outside the platform, or combining functionalities.
During his live stream on June 18th, Asmongold expressed astonishment at the restrictiveness of certain guidelines he had just gone over.
Asmongold accuses Twitch of trying to “monopolize” multistreaming
He mentioned that when you simulcast on Twitch, it’s mandatory to read the chat, which he emphasized was no joke. “Wow,” he exclaimed.
As he delved deeper into the instructions, he became increasingly agitated by Twitch’s choice of phrasing, suggesting instead that they simply make it clear they prefer viewers not to visit competing sites.
Asmongold alleges that Twitch rigidly enforces their outdated Terms of Service regarding simulcasting because they’re struggling to maintain market share. In other words, he suggests that Twitch insists on this rule and is strict about it in order to retain an advantage over its competitors.

It doesn’t add up…He pointed out that the purpose behind this is for Twitch to gain an advantage in simultaneous streaming, and since they have the largest platform, they are able to invest in such developments.
This action appears to be an attempt by Twitch to dominate their platform, as it seems to harm competition and provide no advantages to streamers or users. It appears to serve only Twitch’s interest.
Asmongold described these policies as harmful for user interaction, but he thinks that Twitch can’t maintain this stance indefinitely given the growing competition from platforms like Kick and YouTube in the streaming market.
Indeed, as reported by StreamsCharts, there was a significant increase of 29% in Kick’s viewership just during the month of May. Using this data, Bijan Tehrani, one of the site’s co-founders, decided to draw attention to Twitch.
The fact that Twitch is banning multistreamers suggests merely that there’s a more enjoyable experience available elsewhere, and they seem concerned that you might discover this.
A ban on simultaneous streaming by Twitch users implies just one point: there’s a more enjoyable experience somewhere else, and they’re anxious that you might discover it.

Tehrani reinforced several ideas that Asmongold had expressed, stating, “Twitch seems anxious about maintaining its monopoly. Rather than fostering innovation or empowering creators, they’re likely to resort to their old tactics of unproductive, anti-competitive maneuvers.
Time will reveal whether Twitch adjusts its multistreaming policies, as an increasing number of content creators are experimenting with this platform.
Back in April, even before it was commonly requested, Valkyrae petitioned Twitch to revise their rules because her stream might have been banned due to displaying YouTube chat on the Amazon-owned platform.
