Asmongold calls out Pokimane after staff “attacked” for refusing to air Hasan podcast

Twitch streamer Asmongold criticized Pokimane, saying she didn’t show enough understanding after learning her podcast team had declined to publish an episode featuring Hasan.

The Sweet N Sour podcast, hosted by Pokimane and LillyPichu, announced on October 13th that an episode featuring Hasan would not be released as planned.

Hasan is facing criticism from many streamers because of claims that he used a shock collar on his dog, though he insists these claims are false.

We’ve been following the recent issues involving one of our cast members, and things have become quite serious. After discussing it as a team, we’ve decided not to release tomorrow’s episode right now.

Pokimane later clarified that she hadn’t actually approved the statement, explaining that the episode was always intended to air normally.

She explained that staff didn’t want to publish the content because they worried it would cause problems. She also mentioned the podcast will be temporarily paused while they make some changes.

The latest episode wasn’t released as planned because the team was worried it would cause problems. They also put out a statement without my okay. 🙁 I’m really sorry about this! We’ll discuss everything on this week’s show, and then we’ll take a break to reorganize things.

Pokimane’s comment caused further disagreement, especially considering the existing conflict between Hasan and Asmongold. They criticized her, suggesting she was intentionally putting her team at risk of harassment.

Asmongold blasts Pokimane for response to Hasan podcast cancellation

Asmongold criticized Pokimane during a live stream, saying she didn’t seem to understand or care enough about how her staff made a particular decision.

She needs to realize that while she has a strong and loyal fanbase who will support her, her staff doesn’t enjoy the same level of public support.

Asmongold says this led to his team being harassed online, with people directing hostility towards them.

Honestly, if I were in her position and saw my team release a statement like that, I’d be really upset. I’d expect them to discuss it with me first before making any public comments.

Asmongold believes Pokimane didn’t show enough empathy when responding to the recent podcast controversy. He explained that because she has a large fanbase and a platform, she should recognize that her staff members don’t have the same level of support and are therefore more vulnerable to criticism when they’re attacked.

I would have explained to everyone that while many people enjoy Hasan’s content, he’s currently facing criticism, and I didn’t want my team to get involved in that online conflict. By addressing it directly, I could have protected my staff from being caught in the middle and facing unwarranted attacks.

Asmongold stated that Pokimane was responsible for protecting the people who work on her podcast, comparing her team to a ‘flock’ and herself to their ‘shepherd’.

Always act in the best interests of those you serve and do what’s right for them. Just as they support you, they trust you to look out for their needs.

It’s still unclear what will happen with Pokimane’s podcast, her team, and whether the episode featuring Hasan will be released.
