Arte France Boards Movistar Plus+’s ‘Anatomía de un Instante,’ From Alberto Rodríguez

As a follower, I’m excited to announce that I’ve joined forces with Arte France, the French counterpart of the EBU, to bring aboard “Anatomía de un Instante,” an upcoming series by Alberto Rodríguez from Movistar Plus+ in Spain.

This partnership represents a continuation of the existing, title-by-title collaboration between Arte France and Movistar Plus+, the Spanish pay TV/SVOD platform owned by Telefónica. In this alliance, Arte France has jointly produced Rodrigo Sorogoyen’s “The New Years,” which had its world premiere at the 2024 Venice Film Festival alongside new series from Alfonso Cuarón, Thomas Vinterberg, and Joe Wright.

Alauda Ruiz de Azua’s acclaimed Spanish series “Querer,” which was celebrated as the best Spanish series of last year at San Sebastian, is now being distributed by Arte France. These two series will be showcased at this year’s Series Mania festival.

Anatomía de un instante,” penned by writing partners Rafa Cobos and Fran Araujo, also a co-writer on popular Movistar Plus+ series like “Hierro” and “Rafa,” is an adaptation of Javier Cercas’ non-fiction novel detailing Spain’s 1981 coup d’etat. Alvaro Morte portrays Spanish Prime Minister Adolfo Suárez, Eduard Fernández (“El 47”) plays the role of the Spanish communist party leader Santiago Carrillo, and Manolo Solo depicts General Gutierrez Mellado who defied the rebels during the coup. Cercas’ portrayal of these events deviates from official accounts.

As a passionate film enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that Arte has eight captivating productions lined up for Series Mania. Among them is “A Life’s Worth,” a six-part drama that I can’t wait to watch. This compelling series is the brainchild of director Ahmed Abdullahi and is inspired by the trials encountered by the initial Swedish U.N. battalion deployed in Bosnia during 1993.

The press conference held on Thursday at Series Mania began with two other titles, namely “The Agreement” and “Reykjavik Blend.
