Ariana Grande Looks Back in Brighter Days Ahead Short Film

Ariana Grande, who has been nominated for an Oscar, is transforming her album into a movie. The 26-minute short film titled “Brighter Days Ahead” was released alongside the deluxe version of the album named after it, “Eternal Sunshine“. In this film, Grande plays an older character from the “We Can’t Be Friends (Wait for Your Love)” video, Peaches, who returns to Brighter Days, Inc., where she had her memory of her former boyfriend erased. Here, she revisits some of the memories she saved one last time, all set to songs from “Eternal Sunshine“. Be warned, there are spoilers in this description – as much as can be found in a music video.

The initial scene portrays a nostalgic clip from Peaches’ childhood, synchronized with “Intro (End of the World).” According to the credits, this genuine footage comes from Grande. In the second segment, we see Peaches observing herself performing first a raw version of “Eternal Sunshine,” followed by an enhanced track titled “Dandelion.” The third scene takes us back to the house depicted in the “We Can’t Be Friends” video, now submerged amidst a disaster happening outside. This is accompanied by “Twilight Zone” and “Supernatural,” leading up to what appears to be Peaches being taken away by a UFO, although it’s uncertain how she could have memories following that event. However, she does possess one more memory — of her father, a doctor reminiscent of Ethan Slater, reassembling her as the song “Hampstead” plays.

So, that’s the joyful conclusion for our main character. I suppose it’s high time for Ariana to return to Oz, don’t you think?
