Arceus in TCG Pocket: The God Card That’s Not So Powerful?

In the vast world of Pokémon, Arceus is often considered the most potent being. However, it seems that this won’t hold true for the Trading Card Game (TCG) version called Pocket.

In the games Pokemon Diamond and Pearl, Arceus was introduced as a powerful Pokemon akin to a deity. As the originator of the universe, Arceus provides a player-controlled avatar for combat, much like any other Pokemon. This attribute makes Arceus one of the most potent Pokemon across the entire series – arguably the strongest.

Anticipation ran high among TCG Pocket players about how an Arceus card might appear, with some expecting it to be incredibly powerful and disruptive. But, judging from the leaked card, it seems that it may not live up to these expectations.

Based on information from Centro LEAKS’ Twitter account, it appears that the Arceis card is set to be included in a new collection called Triumphant Light and will likely be the highlight of this set. A leaked preview trailer hints at an Arceis Ex card, but its power seems to fall short of what some might anticipate.

The card’s strongest trick: Ultimate Force inflicts over 70 points of damage. Admittedly, this is quite impressive, but there are numerous other Ex cards that outshine it in effectiveness – making it somewhat unexpected that a divine being, like a Pokémon god, would be outmatched by a Charizard.

Arceus Ex is weak

many users expressed their surprise at the card’s insufficient power level upon first sight, swiftly posting comments such as “That’s quite feeble for an Arceus” and “What a letdown! That Arceus is truly underwhelming.

Others acknowledged that Arceus, as per the lore, holds the highest power in the Pokemon universe. One player humorously commented, “Arceus: The Deity of all Pokemon. Developers: Let’s simply turn it into a colorless Pikachu.

On the other hand, certain players took a liking to the card, praising its “stylish appearance” and expressing excitement about integrating it into their collections.

Although the critique of the Arceus card is reasonable, particularly since it’s meant to symbolize an omnipotent being in the Pokémon universe, incorporating a lore-authentic Arceus card into the Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) would undeniably disrupt the game balance.

As a gamer, I’ve noticed that across different Pokémon games on Nintendo systems, my character feels more like a mere representation of the almighty Arceus than a standalone entity. It seems the same applies to the Arceus card in the TCG Pocket, implying that even in these games, Arceus maintains its godlike stature.

It’s clear that Arceus ought to be one of the strongest Pokémon, but it doesn’t seem to be so in this version. We might get more insights about this on Pokémon Day and during the Pokémon Presents live stream.
