A recent discovery by PC Gamer and Steam data shows that 19% of players of the game ARC Raiders haven’t defeated another player. While some of this may be due to players who haven’t even started the game, it’s not surprising. ARC Raiders is known for encouraging positive interactions between players, and the developers at Embark Studios have actively listened to feedback and improved the matchmaking system. This seems to be working well, as the game’s popularity is growing, and it has now sold over 4 million copies.
ARC Raiders, a PvP extraction shooter, has an impressive number of friendly encounters
The “Crossed the Threshold” achievement is earned by defeating another player in the game. Surprisingly, only about 81% of players have unlocked it. Many players have discussed this online, particularly on Reddit, and generally agree that playing the game alone is a more relaxed experience. The game groups solo players together, while those playing with two or three friends are matched with other similar-sized groups. As one Reddit user put it, “People are just more laid-back when you’re playing solo.” You can find these achievement percentages publicly on Steam, even without owning the game.
Here’s another interesting finding. Surprisingly, in a game where players can freely attack each other, 81.4% have earned the achievement “The Friends We Make Along the Way.” This achievement is special because it’s only given when you successfully leave the game with a player you met during the match – not someone you were already teamed up with. That number seems remarkably lucky, and it’s not a mistake!

The PC Gamer article also highlighted an achievement called “Unyielding,” earned by defeating 10 other players in ARC Raiders. Only about 42% of players have unlocked it, which supports the idea that this game is generally played with a friendly atmosphere. ARC Raiders was already known for its mostly positive player interactions, with occasional moments of backstabbing, but it’s good to have data confirming these observations.
It’s interesting to see this, especially considering shooters are often seen as overly violent, competitive, and full of negativity. While games like Battlefield and Call of Duty focus heavily on players fighting each other, ARC Raiders is different – it emphasizes cooperation. It’s great to see players working together, and that might be the key to what makes ARC Raiders special.
