Patrick Söderlund, the CEO of Embark Studios, has shared that the company has received proposals for both a movie and a TV show based on their popular game, Arc Raiders.
Arc Raiders quickly became a hit game in 2025, receiving excellent reviews and gaining millions of players. It’s continued to be popular in 2026, maintaining a strong player base and selling over 12 million copies.
This new arrival has quickly become a major phenomenon – so much so that it was even mentioned in a recent episode of South Park’s Thanksgiving special.
As a huge fan of Arc Raiders, I was so excited to hear the CEO of Embark Studios say that lots of different production companies are talking about turning the game into a movie or TV show! It sounds like there’s real interest in bringing the world of Arc Raiders to the big or small screen, which is awesome.
Arc Raiders devs have been approached about movie or TV show
According to CEO Patrick Söderlund, many companies have expressed interest in turning their game into a TV series or movie. He believes the game’s story and characters would translate well to the screen.
He said seeing Spreanaza in a movie or TV show would be enjoyable, but clarified that there are no current plans. He emphasized that any project would need to be approached carefully and executed well.

Even though Arc Raiders is a new game, it has a lot of potential to become a broader franchise, like a TV show or movie. The gameplay focuses on players creating their own experiences, but the game also has a rich backstory about how humanity fell and the hidden city of Speranaza.
Interestingly, because the game doesn’t have a strong central storyline, it might actually make creating a spin-off movie or TV series simpler. Unlike shows based on games like Fallout or The Last of Us, it wouldn’t have to carefully avoid changing the original game’s story.
Although an Arc Raiders movie or show isn’t planned right now, the developers haven’t dismissed the possibility if the game remains popular.
