Samson Mow, the man with a plan, spilled the beans on Aqua Wallet’s grand Latam transformation. Think of it as a wallet getting a facelift, a new wardrobe, and a prepaid credit card to boot. Because why not?
Aqua Wallet, the bitcoin and bitcoin L2-based wallet, is rolling up its sleeves for a full-on makeover. It’s not just a tweak here and there—it’s a full-blown refactor. The goal? To make Latam users feel like they’ve just won the lottery. Well, sort of. The wallet, which uses the Liquid and Lightning networks to make bitcoin transactions cheaper than a street taco, is part of JAN3’s master plan to spread bitcoin love from the top down and the bottom up. Because, let’s face it, everyone needs a little bitcoin in their life.
Samson Mow, the CEO of JAN3, dropped this bombshell on The Bitcoin Podcast. Thanks to a cool $5 million in seed funding, the company has been able to speed things up and double the size of Aqua’s development team. “We’ve been working on a refactor of the whole UI to make it more beautiful and more streamlined,” Mow said, sounding like a proud parent. “It’s getting very hectic right now,” he added, probably while sipping on a cup of coffee that’s stronger than his determination.
As part of these shiny new improvements, Mow announced the integration of several payment methods that will let Latam users pay for invoices with BTC or Liquid USDT. Pix, Brazil’s national fast payment system, is one of them, but Mow hinted that more are on the way. Because who doesn’t love a good surprise?
He also mentioned the Aqua card, a prepaid, KYC-free Visa card that will be topped up with bitcoin and Liquid USDT. It’s still in the works, but when it’s ready, it’ll be like having a magic wand in your pocket. “I think this is the focus now to integrate bitcoin with the legacy system because it is still needed like it’s not gone yet,” Mow said, sounding like a man who knows his stuff.
“Our focus has always been on emerging markets and that’s really why we built Aqua to give them the same bank experience as like Venmo or PayPal,” Mow concluded, probably while patting himself on the back. Because, let’s be honest, he deserves it.
