During an interview on TODAY, Anthony Starr was challenged to recreate some of his funniest moments as Homelander – specifically, popular memes featuring the character. He explained that memes have become a major part of his work. “Honestly, memes are why I do this now. My career has become all about them,” he said.
He cheerfully acted out iconic scenes from the show. When a popular meme featuring Homelander from The Boys appeared, the interviewer asked him to perform it, adding sound effects to make it more authentic.
I saw someone point out that meme, and honestly, it was a little harsh! But overall, I’m loving all the memes fans are making – seriously, keep them coming! The more ridiculous, the better, actually. I’m really enjoying seeing them all, and the truth is, the sillier I look in those memes, the happier I am.
During the premiere of Season 5 of The Boys, Antony Starr, who plays Homelander, was asked to rate some memes featuring his character. He didn’t give any of the memes a top two ranking, but he did place the meme featuring Homelander’s disgusted expression and a scene showing strong emotion in fourth place.
