As a longtime Marvel fan, I am thrilled to see Anthony Mackie stepping into the limelight as Captain America in “Brave New World.” While Sam Wilson has been Steve Rogers’ sidekick for years, his evolution into the new Captain promises a fresh and intriguing take on the character.
In a recent chat about his part in the forthcoming Captain America: Brave New World, Anthony Mackie hinted that his character will rely more on intelligence rather than physical strength.
As a devoted admirer, I’ve been thrilled to see Sam Wilson share the screen with Steve Rogers for a decade in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But the excitement has reached new heights! In the 2025 release, “Brave New World,” my beloved character steps into the Captain America mantle, taking center stage and promising an adventure I can hardly wait to be a part of!
In various Marvel films, Anthony Mackie’s character has been portrayed, and during a talk at the Disney APAC Content Showcase held in Singapore, he hinted that the version of Captain America we’ll see will deviate significantly from previous iterations because of his unique background and absence of superpowers.
According to Mackie (as reported by Deadline), Sam’s development can be summed up as straightforward. He remains a counselor, yet he also assumes the role of a community leader within the country, while still providing support to soldiers.
Wilson faces an inherent challenge compared to the super-soldier Steve Rogers, who was infused with the ‘Super Soldier Serum.’ However, this simply implies that Wilson must adopt a unique strategy in his quest to protect the world.
According to Mackie, the serum changes everything – it allows you to confront anyone. Without the serum, one has to be clever and devise creative strategies for victory. Sam, being a counselor, relies more on his intelligence rather than brute strength. He prefers using his cunning over physical force, making him more of a friend to everyone.
Regarding the upcoming movie Captain America: Brave New World, Mackie hints that its tone will be similar to that of The First Avenger, The Winter Soldier, and Civil War – all staying true to their down-to-earth and grounded approach.
When examining the Marvel films, each one ventures into distinct genres. For instance, there’s a fantasy realm, an outer space setting, and even a world of raccoons. However, when it comes to Captain America stories, they consistently delve into a more realistic, down-to-earth universe,” he added.
The film maintains the same essence as the original Captain America, capturing the excitement, the spy-like intrigue, and the down-to-earth narrative style. It also effectively immerses viewers in the story.
Learn more about the Singapore showcase’s insights from Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige regarding the arrival of X-Men in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Furthermore, don’t forget to explore all that we currently know about Captain America: Brave New World, scheduled for release on February 14, 2025.
