As a seasoned consumer and viewer of various food-related content across platforms, I’ve seen my fair share of unexpected discoveries in prepackaged meals. However, the recent string of moldy Lunchly incidents has taken the cake (or should I say pizza?). It’s not just about the mold; it’s about the consistency and the timing – three different individuals finding mold within a short span, each case progressively worse than the last.
Once more, a Twitch broadcaster has gained notoriety due to discovering moldy cheese on their pizza during lunchtime, and this incident undoubtedly ranks among the most disturbing ones so far.
Back in September, Logan Paul from Prime Hydration and KSI teamed up with the creator of Feastables, MrBeast, to debut Lunchly – a convenient on-the-go lunch package that combines offerings from both companies.
Approximately four weeks afterwards, YouTuber Rosanna Pansino was filming a video to compare Lunchly with Lunchables when she discovered moldy cheese in her pizza package from within the box. Immediately, people on social media accused the incident as staged, but she cleared up these doubts by sharing an uncensored video of herself opening the package.
As a devoted fan, I couldn’t help but follow along as aSpicyCow, the Twitch streamer, wasn’t deterred by the claims made against Lunchly pizza. Instead, they took it upon themselves to put these allegations to the test. They went all out, buying over 20 boxes of the pizza in a bid to confirm that it isn’t moldy. In one of their final boxes, much to their dismay, they discovered some moldy cheese.
On Monday, November 4th, during his live stream on Twitch, BTMC discovered mold in a pizza he was about to eat, and this particular instance appeared significantly more severe compared to previous ones.
He expressed his disappointment, stating, “This was supposed to be my lunch, but I’m really not prepared for it to be spoiled.” As he opened the container, he found the cheese inside to be severely moldy. “I can’t believe this! There’s no way this could have happened. Oh no, this is just terrible. What on earth?
“Ew, I’m not eating that!”
In two popular instances where Lunchly found moldy food, the cheese within the packaging exhibited just a few moldy patches. Conversely, on BTMC’s, the whole cheese area was conglomerated and extensively covered in fungus, making it the most unappealing among the lot.
Just a short while after Rosanna’s video became popular, TopMob had a conversation with Lunchly representative, who explained that all of their products undergo rigorous testing prior to being shipped from the factory.
They explained that every Lunchly product undergoes a rigorous evaluation to guarantee both its quality and safety. This thorough process involves several checks and validations, among which is the approval from the USDA, only after which a product can be shipped out from the production site.
Additionally, there were whispers that the mold led to a product recall by the company, yet Logan Paul refuted such allegations in a video he shared on his social media platform.
