Anjelica Huston Reveals Cancer Battle After ‘John Wick 3’ but Is Now ‘in the Clear’: ‘I’m at the Four-Year Mark’

Actress Anjelica Huston opened up about her health, sharing that she battled cancer following the release of “John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum” in 2019.

Huston told People magazine, “I made it through it, and I’m really pleased with my resilience.” He added, “This wasn’t a decision taken lightly.

Yet, she didn’t reveal the particular kind of cancer she was dealing with. “It was a massive surprise, but it made me more aware of what I should avoid, where I shouldn’t dwell. One such place was taking life overly seriously. Therefore, whenever I get a chance, I laugh, and I strive to not overthink things,” she added on.

She didn’t mention the specific cancer she had been diagnosed with. “I received quite a shock, but it made me more mindful of the areas in life I should steer clear of. One such place was being too serious about everything. Consequently, whenever possible, I choose to laugh and avoid getting overly involved,” she explained further.

Huston expresses relief as she’s reached her fourth year cancer-free, although she still undergoes routine check-ups. “Reaching this milestone means a lot to me,” she says with a sense of accomplishment. “It’s truly fantastic. I’m proud of myself and feel fortunate. My doctors have been exceptional throughout this journey.

The actress who played “The Witches” opened up about her six-year silence regarding her condition, explaining why she eventually chose to speak out. She said, “At times, it seems inappropriate to discuss it, but there’s a lot of power in sharing and releasing, as well as in celebrating one’s survival.” She continued, “Life is fragile yet beautiful. It provides the notion that the world is vast and you can find a way to fit into it. That you’re prepared for whatever may come your way.

After successfully overcoming cancer, Huston, who has been busy with voice roles in films such as “The French Dispatch” and “Star Wars: The Bad Batch,” chose a quiet moment to celebrate. Instead of throwing a grand party, she simply walked through her garden, took in the scent of the roses, and marveled at her own cleverness.
