As a seasoned gamer with decades of digital farming under my belt, I must say that Luma Island has managed to carve out its own niche in the ever-expanding world of farming simulators. The addition of foxes and other critters adds a layer of realism that I appreciate, even if they can be a bit of a hassle at times.

It seems that farming simulation games like Farming Simulator and Stardew Valley have gained popularity recently. Games such as Fields of Mistria, Roots of Pacha, Coral Island, and even Disney’s Dreamlight Valley have emerged. More recently, Luma Island has been added to the mix, offering a unique take on the genre with farm animals that can aid or hinder your farming activities. In this article, we will delve deeper into strategies for handling pesky foxes and examine how various creatures, including chickens, contribute to making life easier on your farm.

Defeating foxes in Luma Island

In today’s fast-paced world, everyone needs some relaxed moments with less intense activities. Luma Island offers exactly that, but with a twist to keep things interesting. To make the environment feel more realistic, we’ve added an element of challenge – foxes may invade your farm from outside, disrupting your animals’ daily routines. There are two strategies to handle this predicament:

  1. Since the pesky critters appear out of your ranch bounds, the most logical way is to fence off the perimeter, preventing them from entering altogether.
  2. Another way to deal with this red-tailed plague is to purchase goats. Those animals can be bought from Farmer’s Shop and will chase down the foxes out of your property. Make sure to create a comfy goat shed for them, while you’re at it. Of course, you will get some milk in exchange, too.

Chicken role at the farm in Luma Island

In the real world, it’s common knowledge that foxes have a tendency to catch chickens. Given our experience with them, we can safely raise our own chickens without worry. However, one might wonder why we’d want to do so in the first place?

Clearly, the primary function of these birds on Luma Island is to provide chicken eggs. Yet, their duties don’t stop there. They also assist in controlling pests, specifically insects that could potentially damage your crops.

Other animals and their role in Luma Island

  1. Rabbit – is not only a fluffy, cute creature, it also eats weeds.
  2. Cow – many people love milk, don’t they?
  3. Pig – if you want more fertilizer and ginger, keep them around.
  4. Queen Bee – as in real life, she is necessary to grow some crops and gives honey.

As you can see, most parts of the world in LI are interconnected and discovering them is what makes the game fun. It can be even more enjoyable experience if you bring your friends to tend your plants with you. For now, they would need a PC, as console ports are not yet available. Having your close ones around is also a good idea, because as of now, the production does not allow for romance with NPCs. Have fun!
