Animal Crossing: New Horizons Is Getting New Content for the Holidays

Nintendo has unexpectedly released some festive, holiday-themed items for players still enjoying the game and working on their islands.

With millions of copies sold, Animal Crossing: New Horizons is one of the most popular games on the Nintendo Switch. While it’s incredibly successful, it hasn’t held players’ attention as long as Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, the best-selling Switch game, and many players have since stopped playing.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons Is Getting Ugly Christmas Sweaters

The official Animal Crossing: New Horizons website revealed some new, playfully unattractive holiday sweaters! The designs feature Bells, a wreath, and a reindeer, and would be a fun addition to your character’s outfits on your island.

You can get all three designs either by using the Island code DA-6382-1459-4417 when visiting Luna, or by finding them at the Able Sisters shop using their specific ID codes.

2026 Will Be A Huge Year For Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Although the recent addition of ugly Christmas sweaters is relatively minor, it’s a preview of much more exciting content coming to Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

As a Switch player, I’m super excited to hear there’s a free update coming! It’s going to boost the storage, which is always helpful, and they’re adding some quality-of-life improvements to crafting, making things way smoother. Plus, Kapp’n and his family are opening a new hotel – that sounds awesome and I can’t wait to check it out!

The new content is available to everyone, but upgrading to the Switch 2 offers enhanced features. These include improved graphics, support for the new Joy-Con 2’s mouse control, compatibility with the Switch 2’s microphone, and the ability to play online with up to 12 players, all with voice chat.

Nintendo hasn’t revealed any details about the next Animal Crossing game yet, but players are enjoying the continued support for New Horizons, which has brought many back to the game. While fans will have to wait a bit longer for more content, the free holiday sweaters are keeping them happy in the meantime.
