2024 saw the announcement of Angry Birds 3 hitting the big screen, and now, here I am, a gamer excitedly sharing that it has a confirmed release date! As of today, Paramount Pictures will be the one to bring this adventure to life on January 29, 2027. Sony Pictures was the distributor for the first two films, but it looks like it’s time for a new partner to help us soar through another epic journey!
Notably, Paramount has revealed an impressive ensemble for The Angry Birds 3 movie, featuring familiar faces such as Jason Sudeikis, Josh Gad, Rachel Bloom, and Danny McBride reprising their roles. Joining this star-studded cast in fresh roles are Emma Myers, Keke Palmer, Tim Robinson, Lily James, Marcello Hernandez, Walker Scobell, and Sam Richardson, along with others.
Angry Birds creator Rovio is involved with the movie, too, along with Rovio owner Sega.
In the helm of “The Angry Birds Movie 3” once again is John Rice, following his direction of “The Angry Birds Movie 2.” Thurop Van Orman, writer of “Angry Birds 2,” is penning the script for this upcoming film. Heitor Pereira, who provided the music score for the first two Angry Birds movies, will be back for this third installment. DNEG Animation is responsible for creating the storyboard, developing the artwork, and handling the animation for “The Angry Birds Movie 3.”
In total, the two Angry Birds films have raked in over half a billion dollars worldwide at the cinema. The initial film brought in an impressive $352 million, while its 2019 sequel added another $148 million to that figure on a global scale.
Paramount Studios is responsible for creating the well-known Sonic the Hedgehog film franchise. In March 2027, the fourth installment, Sonic the Hedgehog 4, will be released, closely following The Angry Birds Movie 3, if the release dates remain unchanged. Additionally, in the same year, Nintendo’s live-action adaptation of The Legend of Zelda is scheduled for release in March 2027.
As a gaming enthusiast, I’ve been keeping an eye on the Angry Birds franchise, and the latest addition to the series that caught my attention is Angry Birds Journey, released in 2022. Fast forward to 2023, Sega made headlines when they invested a whopping $776 million in Rovio, the creators of Angry Birds, aiming to expand their presence significantly within the thriving mobile gaming market.
