On Thursday morning, as reported by CNN, right-wing personality Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan, who were detained in Romania last year, were granted permission to depart and traveled via a private jet bound for Florida.
After the prosecutors in Romania removed a travel restriction due to allegations that were refuted by the Tate brothers, they were allowed to depart from Romania. The allegations involved accusations of human trafficking, sexual misconduct with a minor, money laundering, and establishing an organized crime group for the purpose of sexually exploiting women. However, the brothers denied these charges.
A more recent article in The Financial Times implies that the Trump administration may have intervened to ease travel restrictions for the Tates, known for their strong support of Make America Great Again (MAGA).
However, despite the situation, the siblings continue to grapple with the same accusations. In a statement released on Thursday, Romania’s anti-organized crime agency DIICOT stated that the siblings are indeed expected to present themselves before the judiciary whenever they are called upon in Romania because “judicial supervision measures have not been lifted.
The defendants have been told that ignoring these responsibilities could lead to a harsher form of confinement being imposed instead of judicial supervision,” the statement explains.
In response to Andrew Tate’s departure, four women who claim he sexually abused them have expressed their concerns. They stated that since he won’t face criminal charges for the alleged crimes in Romania, he might exploit this situation to harass more and intimidate witnesses and his accusers. Furthermore, they believe that he will continue to propagate his violent and misogynistic ideology globally. This statement was shared with the BBC.
The Tate siblings, who possess dual British-American citizenship, along with two Romanian women they were apprehended with in late 2022, faced indictment in 2023. Last year in April, a court in Bucharest announced that a trial could commence; however, it ultimately decided not to proceed due to perceived issues in the indictment. Despite this decision, the case remains open. Ioan Gliga, the brothers’ attorney, informed CNN that they will reappear in court on March 24th.
Back in 2016, I, Andrew Tate, found myself under the spotlight when I appeared as a guest on the U.K.’s popular reality show, “Big Brother.” Unfortunately, my participation didn’t go as planned due to some controversial tweets that were labeled as homophobic and racist. Matters escalated when a video emerged showing me using a belt in a manner that raised concerns. However, I and the woman involved insisted our actions were consensual.
Since then, he’s amassed an online audience offering guidance on topics like masculinity and finance. Previously suspended from Twitter back in May 2017, he was later reinstated following Elon Musk’s acquisition of the social media site.
