In the premiere of Disney+’s series “Andor,” British actress Elizabeth Dulau made her big break in a significant Hollywood production for the first time. However, with her growing role as Kleya Marki in Season 2, she now has an aspiration to play one of the iconic video game heroines in future projects.
In an interview with Country and Townhouse, Dulau excitedly shared, “If I could play any role, it would definitely be an action hero, similar to Lara Croft! Those closest to me wouldn’t bat an eye at this statement. As a child, I admired characters like her and Indiana Jones, pretending to fight off fictional villains in my own home. I even had a toy bow and arrow set! The idea of a female character being so unquestionably cool, intelligent, and physically powerful was incredibly inspiring for me as a kid. If given the opportunity, it would be amazing if I could serve as that role model to other children someday.
It’s possible that Dulau might need to wait his turn for that role, as it was rumored that Saga of Crowns actress Sophie Turner could take on the character Lara Croft in Amazon Prime Video’s live-action Tomb Raider series. However, there have been unverified reports that the project, developed by Fleabag’s Phoebe Waller-Bridge for Amazon, may no longer be active. As of now, Amazon has not issued a statement to confirm whether the show is still moving forward after the resignation of Jennifer Salke from her position at Amazon Studios in April.
Angelina Jolie played Lara Croft in two Tomb Raider films on the big screen initially. Later, Alicia Vikander assumed the role in 2018’s Tomb Raider, drawing inspiration from the 2013 overhaul of the series. However, plans for a sequel featuring Vikander didn’t materialize as the subsequent movie never took flight.
Currently, Hayley Atwell provides the voice for Lara in the Netflix series titled “Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft.” Not long after its premiere last year, the show was given approval for a second season.
