In the second part of Andor Season 2, fans of Rogue One rejoiced at the reappearance of several prominent characters from the 2016 film. Given that Andor is a prequel to Rogue One, it’s only natural that some of its main cast members carry over. But what’s particularly exciting is that Season 2 is rumored to bring back additional familiar faces from the cherished space saga.
Following the reintroduction of significant characters from “Rogue One” such as Cassian Andor, Director Krennic, and Mon Mothma for Season 2, the series continued with its second storyline (set three years prior to the events in “Star Wars: A New Hope”). This time, the narrative primarily delved into the rebel aspect of the “Rogue One” puzzle.
For the second season of the show, Luna makes her return, accompanied by actors Genevieve O’Reilly, Adria Arjona, and Stellan Skarsgård. Also returning is series creator Tony Gilroy, as this critically praised Star Wars spy tale nears its conclusion, leading up to the events in Rogue One.
Five New Rogue One Characters Debuted in Andor Season 2
Saw Gerrera
In the second season of Andor, Forest Whitaker reappeared as the rebel leader Saw Gerrera, who had previously been featured in various Star Wars productions but was most famously portrayed in Rogue One. In that movie, Saw was depicted as a radical terrorist, heading up a group of rebels deemed too extreme for the Rebel Alliance.
As a passionate movie buff, I was intrigued when Saw made an appearance in the second season of Andor. Unlike his chilling portrayal in the 2016 film where he had completely lost it, here he was not quite as far gone. However, as the flaws in his rebel plan became more evident and the consequences unfolded, he gradually descended into the character we know from the movie. By the time his story resumed in the new Disney+ series, Saw was clearly battle-worn and struggling to hold it together.
Bail Organa
In a surprising guest appearance within the series Andor, the character of Bail Organa reappeared in the Star Wars universe, warmly welcoming Mon Mothma as she entered the Senate gathering which served as the main backdrop for Season 2, Episode 6.
As a movie enthusiast, I’ve noticed an interesting twist while diving into the new Star Wars series, Andor. Although Bail Organa retains his familiar appearance and voice from Rogue One, it’s worth mentioning that for this role in the streaming series, Jimmy Smits – who we know as the longtime actor portraying Bail – has been replaced by Benjamin Bratt.
Moroff
As a member of Saw Gerrera’s rebellious band, I am Moroff – a formidable Gigoran mercenary. Unlike many in our group who are best left undisturbed, I stand out as the muscular backbone, boasting remarkable strength and brandishing a colossal Gatling gun.
In Andor, Moroff hasn’t had a chance to showcase his skills (since he’s mostly used for setting up scenes in the series). Conversely, in Rogue One, Moroff managed to let loose with some gunfire during the assault on Jedha City.
Benthic
In the movies “Rogue One” and “Andor,” a character named Benthic, also known as “Tubes,” is part of Saw’s team. This Tognath mercenary comes with his brother to join Saw’s rebel group. One of Benthic’s standout traits is his exceptional skills in flight.
In the second season of Andor, Benthic maintains control over Saw’s captives, which includes Andor’s rebel companion, Wilmon. Similarly, in Rogue One, he serves as a loyal enforcer, fully devoted to their cause.
Edrio
In the second part of Season 2, Edrio, another member of Saw’s team, reappeared on the Disney+ series. Here, he observed as Wil tried to instruct one of Saw’s rebels on the correct use of a rhydonium bomb.
As a passionate movie enthusiast, I’d like to share my thoughts on “Rogue One.” In this epic tale, we meet Edrio, a significant character and brother of Benthic. He stands out as one of the longest-serving members within Saw’s rebellious alliance. Tragically, his journey ends during the pivotal Death Star test on Jedha, adding poignancy to the film’s climactic moments.

In its second season, Andor continues to follow Diego Luna’s character as a spy amidst the early stages of the Rebellion. Unlike the first season which covered a single year, this new set of episodes extends over four years, with each three-episode segment representing one in-story year. Every Tuesday at 9 p.m. ET, fresh three-episode batches will be released on Disney+.
