Ana’s Perks Make Tanks Miserable

As an ardent fan, I must admit that tanks play a pivotal role in Overwatch 2. However, there’s this incredibly powerful character that’s turning the gameplay into an unpleasant ordeal for me when I take on the tank role.

In Overwatch, the vast array of characters comes with distinct abilities, advantages, and disadvantages. Yet, due to regular updates featuring balance changes like buffs and nerfs, along with the introduction of a new Perks system, some heroes consistently outshine others, becoming dominant forces in the game.

Despite many heroes enjoying their powerful phase prior to being adjusted for balance, Ana, the first post-launch hero introduced in 2016, has remained a consistent top-tier pick in the meta since her debut.

However, during Season 15, her lethal abilities significantly amplify her power, making life exceptionally challenging for players who specialize in Tank roles.

Ana is more OP than ever in Overwatch 2 Season 15

Ana consistently excels as a Support character, offering substantial damage and healing options with her adaptability. Remarkably, she doesn’t need to be in the thick of things to perform effectively. Furthermore, her Biotic Grenade is particularly effective against Tanks because it inflicts harm and hinders their ability to be healed, while Sleep Dart momentarily knocks them down and exposes them for a brief period.

This entity is quite formidable when wielded skillfully, but its abilities have reached unprecedented heights, especially Biotic Bounce and Shrike. The first ability allows Biotic Grenades to bounce again after detonation, increasing their effectiveness twice, while the second enhances her ultimate, granting both an ally and Ana herself a boost with Nano Boost.

Regardless if they suit your playstyle, Headhunter is still an outstanding Perk in the game due to its ability to make your primary weapon deal critical hits. This shift turns her from a conventional healer into a formidable damage dealer, capable of dealing powerful shots from afar and landing impressive headshots.

In essence, Ana is an ideal choice for any anti-Tank role due to her versatility in combat. Her ability to gradually deplete your health or hinder healing efforts, both at a range that typically eludes Tanks, leaves you with few effective countermeasures.

Rather than depending on her to cause issues and then dealing with them later, it’s crucial to have your designated marksman swiftly eliminate her as a potential threat. However, in intense battles where many elements are at play, it can be simple to overlook the sniper hiding in their vantage point.

With minimal effort, Ana effectively concentrates her abilities on the Tank, eliminating them effortlessly. This leaves the opposing team vulnerable as they lack a central target.

It’s not just me who’s observed this pattern, as numerous gamers have also pointed out Ana on various social media platforms. On Reddit, a user named ‘HMThrow_away_account’ posted an article about the current strongest heroes in Overwatch 2, and unsurprisingly, the Support hero was the most frequently chosen one.

In my opinion, Ana is currently the most effective hero in the game when you consider her power relative to her size,” said the original poster. “The developers seem to have intended us to feel the lore-based impact of Ana since I find myself trembling whenever she’s on the opposing team. She’s absolutely terrifying.

Many other supporters also concurred, some going as far as suggesting that Blizzard might be showing bias towards certain parties.

One player commented, “Ana has been overpowered throughout the entirety of this game, and her abilities are a joke due to the developers’ clear bias towards her.

Time will reveal if Blizzard chooses to address Ana’s dominance, but it’s possible that she might receive a nerf in the Season 16 update. On the other hand, they could tweak the Perks of certain Tank characters to enhance their competitiveness.
