The new free-to-play game, Ananta, is facing criticism again, with some people claiming it closely copies the game Uncharted.
The game’s initial gameplay trailer, released on September 23rd, received criticism for borrowing elements from other popular titles. Many viewers noticed the large city resembled the one in GTA, and the swinging mechanics looked very similar to those in Insomniac’s Spider-Man.
So, I checked out Ananta – it’s a NetEase game – at Tokyo Game Show 2025, and they showed off another 10 minutes of gameplay. Honestly, it was a mixed bag. Some of us were pretty hyped, but a lot of people pointed out that some parts felt… familiar, like we’d seen them before.
Antana accused of plagiarizing Uncharted after latest demo
Near the end of the game demo, the protagonist, Chenxiu, is pulled through an industrial zone, dangling from dark webs connected to a speeding truck. He’s dragged along the ground, smashing into things, and players use timed button presses to help him avoid dangers.
This scene strongly recalls a famous chase sequence from Uncharted 4, where Nathan Drake pursues a car through Madagascar. It was a key part of the game’s promotion before its 2016 release and is now considered one of the most unforgettable moments in the series.
This Ananta game has no shame 😅#Uncharted4 #NaughtyDog

Fans noticed the resemblance to Naughty Dog’s work and many accused Ananta of copying it.
One user on X commented that the plagiarism was so obvious it was almost remarkable. Another simply called the game “stolen asset slop.”
Meanwhile, another joked: “Only thing this game is missing is catching monsters into balls.”
I have to admit, even though a lot of people were criticizing it, some fans pointed out that it wasn’t the first game to take inspiration from older titles – it’s pretty common, actually!
Ananta doesn’t have a confirmed release date yet, but it’s planned for PlayStation 5, PC, iOS, and Android. While many initially assumed it would be a “gacha” game like Genshin Impact, the developers have explained that you’ll unlock characters by playing the game, not through random chance or purchases.
