In the as-yet-unnamed Disney+ series, it’s been verified that another AI character will make an appearance. The forthcoming show promises the reemergence of E.D.I.T.H., this time making a return to the scene.
It has been announced that Emily Hampshire, known for her role on Schitt’s Creek, is set to join the cast of Vision Quest. In this upcoming miniseries focused around Paul Bettany’s beloved android character, Hampshire will portray E.D.I.T.H., although it remains undecided if she will only voice the character or also embody her as an actor. Previously, Dawn Michelle King, an assistant editor on numerous MCU films, provided the voice for E.D.I.T.H. in 2019’s Spider-Man: Far From Home.
In the movie “Far From Home,” E.D.I.T.H., an acronym for “Even Dead, I’m The Hero,” was bestowed upon Peter Parker by the deceased Tony Stark. This artificial intelligence played a crucial role in the Spider-Man sequel, as Peter unknowingly handed over the AI (in the form of glasses) to the film’s antagonist, Mysterio. He then used E.D.I.T.H.’s orbital weaponized drones to amplify his illusions and wreak more havoc. As of now, it is unclear who currently holds E.D.I.T.H. in the MCU, as the glasses were seized after Mysterio exposed Peter Parker’s identity.
Vision Quest Will Feature Multiple AI Personalities
Initially, Vision debuted in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Tony Stark’s digital aide, J.A.R.V.I.S., later merging with Ultron and the Mind Stone in the film Avengers: Age of Ultron. In the 2015 movie’s conclusion, Vision was accepted as an Avenger and developed romantic feelings for Wanda Maximoff. He reappeared in 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War, where he was eliminated by Thanos to seize the Mind Stone. The last time audiences caught a glimpse of Vision was in the finale of the series WandaVision, after being revived as White Vision by S.W.O.R.D., with memories of Wanda’s “Hex Vision,” he departed.
As a die-hard fan, I’m eagerly anticipating the upcoming tale, titled “Vision Quest,” which is rumored to delve into the protagonist’s journey of self-discovery concerning his fresh life’s mission. However, the return of Ultron, thought to have perished in “Age of Ultron,” poses a significant challenge. The enigmatic James Spader will once again embody Ultron on screen. Intriguingly, “Vision Quest” is set to introduce Jocasta, Ultron’s comic book spouse, who has been brought to life by a talented newcomer in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Other performers joining the cast are Ruaridh Mollica and Todd Stashwick, with the latter character being an assassin pursuing Vision for his technology. Faran Tahir is set to reappear in the MCU after a long absence as Raza, the head of the Ten Rings organization that abducted Stark in the first Iron Man film, who was previously thought to have been killed by Obadiah Stane in that movie.
Vision Quest is expected to debut on Disney+ in 2026, as part of Phase 6 of the MCU.
