In November 2022, the popular social deduction game Among Us underwent a transformation with Among Us VR, moving its 2D spacemen characters into a more immersive 3D first-person experience in VR. Lately, Among Us VR has been renamed to Among Us 3D as they prepare for the upcoming launch of the non-VR version. Excitingly, Among Us 3D, developed by Innersloth and Schell Games, is set to release on Steam on May 6th for $10.
3D Among Us sheds the virtual reality aspect of its previous iteration, Among Us VR, and offers a three-dimensional gaming experience without the need for VR goggles. Players can now carry out tasks and backstab their cosmic colleagues in a fully 3D environment. The non-VR version will allow cross-play with its VR counterparts on Meta Quest, Steam VR, PlayStation VR 2, and PICO, but the 3D version is not interoperable with the original Among Us release.
In the latest 3D adaptation of Among Us, the frenzy of the multiplayer detective game is now viewed from a first-person angle, complete with task-related mini-games that the innocent crew members must accomplish to secure victory. Additionally, this update includes native proximity chat, which could potentially expose a player’s location to an approaching impostor, and a new character class called The Infected. This class transforms a slain Crewmate into another Infected impostor rather than the traditional ghost.
To mark the upcoming launch of Among Us 3D, Schell Games has unveiled the Powered by Wishlists Challenge! This exciting event means that if you add Among Us 3D to your Steam wishlist, you could receive unique in-game items as rewards based on how many people join the wishlist. The milestones for these rewards are:
1. When 50,000 users have added Among Us 3D to their wishlists – Everyone who owns the game will receive Reward 1.
2. When 100,000 users have added Among Us 3D to their wishlists – Everyone who owns the game will receive Reward 2.
3. When 250,000 users have added Among Us 3D to their wishlists – Everyone who owns the game will receive Reward 3.
The challenge runs until May 6th!

- 555,555 wishlists – A “cosmetic surprise”
- 777,777 wishlists – “Suspiciously exciting new cosmetic(s)”
3D version of Among Us will be released on May 6th for PC through Steam. Meanwhile, the VR version of Among Us is already accessible on Meta Quest, Steam VR, PlayStation VR 2, and PICO platforms.
