In the 2025 TV lineup, America’s Got Talent returns for its historic Season 20, starting off with an unusual, corn-chugging spectacle involving creamed corn before triggering two golden buzzers. Fans won’t have to wait long for another contender vying for the $1 million prize. AGT recently shared a video of a son and mom duo performing a cover of Coldplay’s “Viva La Vida,” which predictably drew an amusing response from Simon Cowell.
In the forthcoming episode of Season 20, we have a special guest, 23-year-old Cole Swensen accompanied by his mother, Judy. It’s interesting to note that Cole didn’t bring his mom along merely for encouragement; their joint performance has captivated even those who typically dislike Coldplay, making it quite endearing. Here’s the link:
Discuss the packed audience who were all in favor of Cole Swensen’s act! It appeared as though everyone in the crowd believed that Cole Swensen deserved to perform on the America’s Got Talent stage, and even Cole’s mother received a cheer of “Judy! Judy! Judy!” when it seemed like Simon Cowell was the only judge who didn’t seem fond of Cole bringing his mom onto the stage.
Initially, Mel B, known for her firm judging style during the premiere, expressed nothing but praise. Moreover, Howie Mandel, a fan of the original song, offered a heartfelt compliment. Meanwhile, Sofia Vergara was touched by the sight of the family’s unity and the evident love among its members.
To be frank, I couldn’t help but wonder why Simon was the sole dissenter during Cole’s act on America’s Got Talent. If you hadn’t seen the show before, you might have assumed that Simon thought Cole’s performance would have been a strong audition if he had performed solo. As expected when Simon starts offering his critique, the audience started to boo, but he remained resolute…
Prior to the disclosure where he expressed his opinion, “it was a fantastic audition,” following Cole’s mom playing her cello alongside him, receiving numerous applause and heartwarming smiles from both of them. For as long as I can remember, Cowell has been known for providing misleading feedback during his time on AGT. However, even though I anticipated the twist, it didn’t diminish my enjoyment in the least!
Despite having a strong sense that Simon might rate Simon and Judy more than just “good,” performing in front of thousands under bright stage lights, with four judges watching, knowing their dream was at stake – it’s obvious they would feel the full weight of disappointment upon receiving disapproval from Simon, followed by immense joy upon hearing his praise.
In summary, I might simply be drawn to the classic methods of the diverse judges on AGT. While Simon Cowell undeniably contributes significantly to the show’s success, not everyone appreciates the element of surprise. Interestingly, he admitted that he had to deceive NBC executives initially to bring America’s Got Talent into existence.
Catch more impressive acts, including potential Golden Buzzer winners, as Cole and his mom missed out – starting from Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET on NBC. Don’t forget to stream the fresh episodes on Peacock the following day with a subscription!
